A little look back at Ideas Fest 💡✨

Such a brilliant few days of conversations, new connections and meeting people who share our passion for opening up more possibilities for children and young people.

We also got to share something we’ve been very excited about… our first ever Romodels merchandise! 💚

After giving our new Career Cards their first outing at Ideas Fest, we’re so pleased to say they’re now available to buy on the Romodels website 🎉

For generations, children have been given a familiar picture: the farmer is a man. We’d like to help change that.

🚜 Discover our female farmer Romodels – FREE to access through our bilingual learning platform.

These are women owning and running farms, leading the industry, supporting farming communities and pioneering innovative and sustainable ways of farming.

Learners can discover inspiring women in farming, including Abi Reader, the first female President of NFU Cymru; Celyn, a young farmer building her own lamb hospital; Sioned, who supports farmers across Wales; and Claire, a farmer and farm vet.

🌱 Explore 7 female farmer profiles, in depth, from different communities across Wales, each sharing her story and relationship with Cynefin – the places, people and experiences that have shaped who she is and how she farms.

Then it’s over to your learners. Choose a farmer. Discover her story. Tell it your way.

Our RePicture Farming creative competition challenges learners to bring these women’s stories to life through their own creativity:

We’re heading to Ideas Fest to make meaningful connections, meet future Romodels and find even more ways to open up career possibilities for children and young people across the UK. 💡✨

Last year, we met the wonderful Tessa from OLIO, which led to an exciting new Romodel opportunity. This year, we’d love to meet even more brilliant people and organisations whose stories could inspire a child to see a future they hadn’t imagined before.

We’ll also be sharing something very special: our first ever Romodels merchandise! We’ve loved bringing it to life and can’t wait for you to see it. 👀💚

Before Romodels. After Romodels. 🌟

Sometimes, the biggest change starts with simply being able to see what’s possible.

Romodels connects young people with relatable role models, real careers and meaningful experiences that broaden their horizons showing them that their future doesn’t have to be limited by what they already know.

Hearing a young person describe a future they had never imagined for themselves says more than we ever could.

Dolly Parton is the ultimate role model. ❤️

From humble beginnings in a one room cabin in the mountains of Tennessee to becoming a global superstar, Dolly’s story is a beautiful reminder that where you start from doesn’t determine how far you can go.

She was resilient, witty and always remembered her roots. A brilliant songwriter, she has always understood the power of a good story. So, it feels fitting that one of her greatest legacies is helping children discover stories of their own through her Imagination Library, which has put millions of books into the hands of children around the world.

Through it all, she has never been afraid to sparkle. A life lived in rhinestones, with heart, humour and purpose. Dolly is proof that you can shine brightly yourself while helping others find their own light. 🌟

At just 10 years old, 1 in 4 children in one Aberdare classroom said they wanted to work at McDonald’s when they grew up.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with working at McDonald’s. What struck us was whether it was their dream role, or simply one of the few careers they could see.

Because how can a child dream of becoming a Space Weather Forecaster, Inventor, Marine Ecologist, Inclusive Book Publisher, Referee and Anti-racism Campaigner if they don’t know those careers exist?

A child’s postcode shouldn’t limit their possibilities. 🌍

That’s why Romodels brings real people and real careers into classrooms, showing children just how many possibilities exist beyond what they see every day and helping them think: “That could be me.” 💚

A brilliant afternoon at Meet Your Neighbour! 🏡

It was great to join Monmouthshire Building Society for their Meet Your Neighbour event and spend time connecting with so many fantastic local businesses and organisations. 🧡🧡

It was also lovely to catch up with Sally and the team, as well as meet lots of new faces. We had some really interesting conversations, made new connections and loved having the opportunity to share more about Romodels and the work we’re doing with schools and young people.

A huge thank you to Monmouthshire Building Society for bringing everyone together and creating such a welcoming space to connect, share ideas and explore future opportunities. 💡

Since joining the Romodels team, Charly has been an incredible part of bringing our projects to life. From coordinating partners and managing timelines to keeping everything running seamlessly behind the scenes, she's at the heart of making the magic happen. 💫

Her passion for organisation, combined with her experience in education administration and project management, helps us create inspiring career experiences that make a real difference for children and young people. 🌟

We're so lucky to have Charly on the team and can't wait to see everything we'll achieve together. Here's to making an even bigger impact this academic year and beyond! 💚💚
