🎹 A fabulous result of 95% for Alfie Ace in his first ever piano exam. Well done Alfie - your pass with distinction is very well deserved and you’re an absolute pleasure to teach.

So proud of all my pupils and results like this make it all worthwhile. 🎵

If you're a current member of Tawe Voices, or are thinking about (re)joining in 2022, come along to our Christmas social! Do some carolling, have a natter and enjoy some festive treats in St Cynog’s Church Hall, Ystradgynlais. Wednesday 15th December, 7pm. See you there!
P.S we’re moving to a Monday night from January, instead of a Thursday.

Although we’re not quite ready to mention the ‘back to school’ words just yet… 🤫🤫🤫
… I am starting to put together my teaching timetable for next term! So if you or a little person is keen to learn piano, recorder, saxophone or clarinet please give me a shout and we can set up a free trial lesson.
There’s some availability at the moment for adult learners to come in the daytime too so don’t be shy! It’s never too late to discover a new hobby or return to an old one.
If you’re already a student and need to change your slot for the new term please be quick so you have some choice. 🎼 - Diane x

Delighted to get this video today of some Daddy/daughter time! This little one is smashing her practise goals - first week learning white notes and she’s already flying high. 🎹 🎵
Every child will love support from parents and someone taking an interest in their practise, and it’s great bonding too. 🥰 Feeling super chuffed to have got this feedback tonight! 💜

Lots of people have asked me recently why an instrument is needed before lessons start and here's my answer!

* Children and adults alike can't learn the piano in half an hour a week - it's more like learning to walk than learning to swim! Regular practise is needed and even a few minutes several times a day will make a big difference.

* Half an hour of access to a piano per week will result in little to no progress and in turn, frustration and disappointment, particularly in children. It means the same lessons will be repeated until progress is made - not ideal for any learner!

* Falling in love with music means exposure to it and an instrument at home will mean this is a real possibility.

There are all sorts of options available including low-cost monthly hire, second hand purchases and budget choices so please get in touch if you would like advice on that. And why is a keyboard not a piano?! Give me a shout to learn why they are two different instruments and how to avoid the disappointment of purchasing the wrong one!
