π Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month β March π
TUESDAY 31st MARCH 2026
This March, Buttercups Day Nursery is proud to be fundraising to raise awareness and vital funds for Cerebral Palsy.
π« What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a lifelong neurological condition caused by damage to the developing brain, most commonly before, during, or shortly after birth.
It affects everyone differently and can impact:
β’ Movement and muscle control
β’ Balance and coordination
β’ Speech and communication
β’ Fine motor skills, such as using hands
β’ Learning and overall development
Cerebral Palsy is not progressive, but its effects are lifelong.
πΆ How Can Cerebral Palsy Happen?
Cerebral Palsy can occur due to:
β’ Lack of oxygen to the brain during birth
β’ Premature birth
β’ Brain injury or infection
β’ Complications during pregnancy or delivery
In many cases, there is no single clear cause.
π Why This Matters to Us
At Buttercups Day Nursery, we care for a lovely little girl, Harlow, who lives with Cerebral Palsy.
Her condition affects:
β’ Her walking and mobility
β’ The use of her hands
β’ Her development, meaning she needs extra support to reach milestones
Harlow shows incredible determination every day, and we are proud to support her while raising awareness for all children living with Cerebral Palsy.
π Green Day at Buttercups π
As part of our fundraising, we will be holding a Green Day, where:
β’ Children and staff are invited to wear green
β’ There will be green-themed activities throughout the nursery
β’ We will promote kindness, inclusion, and awareness in an age-appropriate way
Green is the colour of Cerebral Palsy awareness and helps us show our support together.
π Supporting Cerebral Palsy Cymru
We are fundraising for Cerebral Palsy Cymru, a fantastic charity that supports children with Cerebral Palsy and their families across Wales.
They provide:
β’ Specialist therapy and early intervention
β’ Support to improve movement and independence
β’ Expert guidance for families and carers
Their work makes a real difference to children and families.
π€ How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter how small, helps support children with Cerebral Palsy and the families who rely on these vital services.
Thank you for supporting Buttercups Day Nursery this Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month.
