🌳 Healthy forests mean healthy communities.

🌲 Forests are the economic backbone of many rural communities by supplying foods, medicines, fuel and income, as well as benefits such as cooling effects, clean water and soil stabilization.

Forests are disappearing fast.

In 2024 alone, 6.7 million hectares of tropical primary forest were lost.

That’s 18 football fields every minute.

🔑 Risk informed planning is key to urban resilience.

To ensure that cities are liveable and resilient in the face of climate and disaster risks, we need to consider the…
🌱 Natural environment
👥 People living in urban areas
🏙️ Quality of the built environment
💰 Local and global economy

The connections among these elements show that risk-informed urban planning facilitates many other benefits.

🇫🇷

Statement from the Nobel Foundation

One of the core missions of the Nobel Foundation is to safeguard the dignity of the Nobel Prizes and their administration. The Foundation upholds Alfred Nobel’s will and its stipulations. It states that the prizes shall be awarded to those who "have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind," and it specifies who has the right to award each respective prize. A prize can therefore not, even symbolically, be passed on or further distributed.
