Congratulations to the winners of Mission Discovery King’s College London 2026: Team Singularity! 🎉

Their winning experiment will investigate how the behaviour of California blackworms changes in microgravity, exploring potential applications in nanorobotics and self-healing meshes.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part from in this years programme. The enthusiasm and teamwork we saw throughout the week from you all was so inspiring to see.

Well done to Team Singularity and of course to every participant who embraced the challenge!

We would also like to thank our brilliant programme team, mentors and speakers, including astronauts Steve Swanson and Ken Ham, NASA Leader Sarah Murray, and everyone who helped make this year’s Mission Discovery such a memorable experience!

We are currently sorting through the photographs from the programme and will make them available soon. We are also hoping to have an update on the t-shirts very soon.

The dates for Mission Discovery King’s College London 2027 are in the works, but in the meantime, you can register your interest through our website to receive updates.

Research carried out in space has a real impact on life here on Earth.

🌱 Agriculture
Satellite monitoring helps farmers track crop health, soil moisture, and drought conditions. This allows them to operate more sustainably, improving yields while reducing water and fertiliser use.

🌍 Climate & Environment
Earth-observing satellites allow scientists to monitor climate change, deforestation, melting ice, and natural disasters in real time, supporting better decision-making and more efficient disaster response.

🩺 Medicine & Health
Research in microgravity has led to advances in medical imaging, drug production and development, and our understanding of muscle and bone loss, with implications for ageing and long-term illness here on Earth.

🔧 Materials & Technology
Space research has driven improvements in lightweight materials, insulation, sensors, and imaging technologies now used in everyday products and infrastructure.

At Mission Discovery, students learn how space-based research starts with just a simple question, and connects directly to real-world challenges. Join the mission at www.ISSET.space

NASA’s Artemis II mission is the next big step in returning humans to the Moon 🌖

Carrying out novel science experiments whilst sending astronauts around the Moon to test the systems we’ll use for future lunar landings and eventually Mars.

It’s a crucial dress rehearsal for deep-space travel and is now targeting March for launch, bringing us closer to a new era of human exploration. 🚀
