Pro para-climber James Rudge uses what tape? SPORTTAPE!
James talked us through what he uses for support and flexibility, but it's all part of that confidence piece. When you feel truly supported, your performance reflects that.
He starts his application with our flagship tape which has donned the Worlds greatest athletes since 2012 – Kinesiology Tape. Super stretchy, extra sticky and skin friendly. Kinesiology Tape provides flexible support for your muscles and joints.
Next up is our 5cm Zinc Oxide White Tape. It's built for versatile strapping on shoulders, knees and larger joints, giving you reliable support and protection. Strong, sticky and hand-tearable for quick application when it counts.
With this killer taping combo, you can train hard and rest easy knowing your joints are stable, supported, and protected.
How do you use your tape?
New season, new games, but the essentials stay the same.
Beth Jefferies () talks through her non-negotiables when packing up for the season ahead.
Filling up her bum bag with new gloves, gauze, nose plugs, and what tape?
SPORTTAPE.
Thanks for joining us, Beth – see you pitch-side.
What do you keep in your bum bag? 💛🖤
Skin tone colours are great! Even if its not a match.
You might want something discreet. Something neutral. A tape to match your ✨vibe✨.
We've got a colour for everyone. No matter the style, mood, or event. Each colour designed with power and performance at the front of our minds.
We've been in the tape game for over 16 years – the tapes reflect that.
James Rudge on finding the good in tough scenarios.
Keeping a positive attitude – even in times of struggle and uncertainty – is hard for anyone.
James' outlook on life is a great example of giving yourself the best chance of success. Finding solutions over problems.
It's less about boxing yourself in on what you *think* you can or can't do, and more about finding your own way to do it.
We love every chance we get to chat with James. His achievements in climbing and building a career with his infectious positive attitude just reinforces how important the right support is for athletes.
Big up James, until next time! 💛🖤
Tape 101: Tear vs Non-Tear EAB
Sounds obvious, but let's chat through it anyway.
The glaring difference is tearable is hand tearable, while non-tear needs a good pair of scissors.
The next major difference is the Non-Tear is thicker, so the Tearable EAB is thinner.
That gives the Non-tear a 140% stretch, while Tear has a 180% stretch.
For light support, or as a bandage, we'd recommend using Tear EAB.
For more support (but less than Zinc Oxide Tape) use the Non-Tear EAB.
We're been at this for over 16 years, so SPORTTAPE is full of taping tips and tricks. Follow along for more from our Head of Medical, Ben Warburton.
Meet James Rudge: GB Paraclimber, founder of Grit Collective, and an athlete helping make climbing more accessible for adaptive athletes.
James was born without the lower part of his left arm, so climbing has always involved finding adaptive solutions that work for his body. It’s one of the reasons he’s so drawn to the sport.
There’s no single way to get up a wall.
Climbing gives people space to set personal goals, work to their own benchmarks and challenge themselves without fitting into one fixed version of sport. It welcomes different bodies, different abilities and different ways of thinking.
Through Grit Collective, James helps create that space for other adaptive climbers. The regular paraclimbing socials in Bristol are built around community, support and representation, giving people the chance to get on the wall and see what’s possible.
Representation has played a huge role in James’ journey.
When he was starting out, he’d search for one-handed climbers, one-handed footballers and other adaptive athletes. Seeing someone with a similar limb difference already taking part gave him the confidence to try.
James is now deep in training for the international season, with the World Championships in Prague next year forming a huge part of the journey towards LA, where climbing will make its Paralympic debut.
Paraclimbing comes with serious pressure.
Athletes get one attempt on the route. One chance to read it, commit to the plan and give everything. Physical strength counts, but so does confidence, focus and trust in yourself when the pressure’s high.
For James, unstoppable means coming off the wall knowing he’s given everything.
We’re proud to support athletes like James.
Athletes who challenge limits, build communities and help make sport more accessible for the next person who walks through the door.
What do you think? Is your sport more challenging mentally, physically, or a bit of both?

You’re asking the wrong question.
Before you ask “What tape should I use?”, ask “What am I trying to achieve?”
The goal comes first. Support, movement, protection, feedback and confidence all need a different approach.
That’s why SPORTTAPE makes different types of sports tape for different treatment aims. The right product helps the application do its job properly.
A good sports tape application starts with the basics. Skin prep, body positioning, tape tension and rounded corners all play a part in how well the tape performs.
Brilliant tape can still struggle if the skin isn’t clean and dry. A strong application can still be let down by poor-quality tape that frays, lifts or loses shape too quickly.
SPORTTAPE has spent over 12 years working directly with specialist, accredited factories to develop sports tape that feels good to use, stays consistent and supports practitioners when it counts.
Tape still isn’t magic.
Sports tape will not fix an injury on its own. It will not replace rehab, treatment or clinical reasoning.
Used properly, tape can help support movement, provide feedback and give athletes more confidence during training, matchday or return to play.
Small details make a big difference.
Round the corners to help reduce peeling. Apply to clean, dry skin. Avoid moisturiser, oils and residue before taping. If the area is very hairy, shave at least 12 hours before application or give it a careful trim.
Good taping comes down to the right product, the right prep and the right education.
SPORTTAPE works with physios, therapists and clinicians to keep pushing taping education forward, from product development to online taping courses.
