St Edmund's pupils were well-represented at the annual Kent Festival Prize-winners concert at the St Gregory Centre for Music in Canterbury on Saturday. Performers from the Music, Speech and Drama categories delivered a 90-minute programme of items to a good sized and receptive audience.
The evening began with a two pieces from the St Edmund's Junior String Ensemble; Alla Rustica by Vivaldi and Don Quixote Rides Again by Robert Ramskill. Edward Winters, clarinet, played the final movement from the Sonatina by Joseph Horowitz with great panache and energy. Aiden Gibson gave a well-paced prose reading from Five Children and it by E. Nesbit.
Congratulations to all prize-winners and performers.

Today eight of our short stay boarders visited the White Cliffs of Dover with Mr O'Connor and Sergeant Major French.
They visited the Roman Lighthouse and Anglo-Saxon Church before touring the Great Tower. As you can see, Sergeant Major French was eager to occupy the royal throne in the King's apartment. The team absorbed two thousand years of British history in 90 minutes! We then visited the World War 2 tunnels and learned about Operation Dynamo - the evacuation of 300,000 allied soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940.
The group finished the trip with a hearty pub lunch at The Coastguard in St Margaret's Bay.

While the rest of the school is busy with exams, a selection of Middle Fifth GCSE and Lower Sixth A-level Music students gave us a fantastic lunchtime concert on Thursday afternoon.
Cesar and Jeremy performed for their end-of-year exam and An-Claire, Noam, Rafa and Lauritz for their upcoming UCAS test.
We were also delighted to welcome Felix, who took a quick break from his GCSEs to play the energetic 1st movement of Vivaldi's Concerto Grosso in D minor for two violins alongside An-Claire and Mr Payne.
