❤️ A little update from me ❤️
It genuinely breaks my heart to be writing this post, but after a lot of thought I’ve made the difficult decision that I’m no longer going to be running the messy play group.
Unfortunately, my ongoing health problems have made things increasingly difficult and, as much as I’ve tried to keep going, I’ve reached the point where I need to be realistic about what I can manage and put my health first.
I took over the group 3 years ago and have run it on a voluntary basis ever since. With the amazing support and donations from local charities, you guys and with funding things myself when needed, I’ve been able to keep the sessions going and create something for local children and families to enjoy.
What started as a little idea that my sister in law started off became something I’m genuinely really proud of. I’ve loved getting to know so many lovely families and seeing all the children come along, have fun, make memories and usually leave covered from head to toe in mess!
A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way — whether you’ve attended the sessions, recommended the group to others, donated or helped in any way. I’m also incredibly grateful to the local charities and organisations whose support helped make the sessions possible.
I’m really hoping this doesn’t have to be the end of messy play. If somebody else would like to take the group on, I’m more than happy to chat with you and the community centre to see about a handover.
It’s definitely a bittersweet decision, but I know it’s one I need to make for my health.
Thank you for 3 amazing years of mess, fun and memories. I’m really going to miss seeing you all and all those messy little faces! ❤️
And finally a massive thank you to the Hersden Community Centre for all of the support over the last 3 years and the use of the hall, kitchen facilities and supplies weekly. Having somewhere for us to run the sessions and welcome so many local families has made all of this possible, and I’m so grateful for that.
