An absolutely incredible finale to Sounds Green 🌿🎶
What a way to end the series. Cores do Samba - a true Sounds Green favourite, brought the sunshine, the rhythm and the joy to a night that had everything: beautiful weather, a stunning setting, fun, cheer and pure happiness for all ages.

The Garden was full to the brim, the atmosphere was electric, and the music… just fabulous. A perfect, feel‑good finale to one of Cambridge’s most loved summer traditions.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, to the brilliant Cambridge University Botanic Garden staff for stewarding and managing each evening so smoothly, and of course to Cores do Samba - this is becoming a bit of an annual tradition now!

A rousing applause closed our Festival Finale at Saffron Hall last night. A truly unforgettable end to Cambridge Summer Music 2026. The London Mozart Players, led by maestro Jonathan Bloxham, showcased the full power and elegance of a string orchestra, weaving their way through Seiber, Vaughan Williams, Christopher Wood, Holst, Rutter, Delius and Warlock in a programme honouring the legacy of the pioneering Boyd Neel Orchestra (a programme curated by our Festival Director Ben Johnson)

Beautifully presented by Petroc Trelawny, the evening culminated in Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. Horn virtuoso Martin Owen and tenor Laurence Kilsby delivered a performance that held the hall breathless with sound and silent pauses creating a spellbinding atmosphere. A reminder exactly why festivals like Cambridge Summer Music are so massively important in the musical calendar.

Our heartfelt thanks to Christopher Wood, Julia Seiber‑Boyd, The Delius Trust and the Mátyás Seiber Trust, whose generous support made this landmark concert possible.

A fitting tribute to the groundbreaking Boyd Neel Orchestra, and a night we will remember for a very long time. Thank you to everyone who joined us, see you all next July!
