Something came up in conversation today that really made me think…
My daughter doesn’t know what she weighs.
She has no idea.
And I just thought… wow.
Because at her age, so many of us already knew EXACTLY what we weighed.
We knew our clothes size.
We compared ourselves to our friends.
We noticed every pound gained or lost.
Somewhere along the way, we’d already started learning that those numbers meant something about us.
Whether we were doing well.
Whether we were attractive.
Whether we were “good enough”.
And here she is, just living in her body without that constant scorecard running in the background.
That feels huge to me.
I’m not saying numbers can never be useful.
But I do think we’ve given some of them far too much power.
The number on the scales.
The number in the back of your jeans.
The number you think you “should” be.
None of them tell you how strong you are.
How healthy you feel.
How much energy you have.
How confident you feel.
How much your body allows you to DO.
And that’s exactly why Beyond The Scales matters so much to me.
Maybe the goal isn’t just to change the number.
Maybe it’s to stop letting the number decide how you feel about yourself in the first place.
You are so much more than a weight or a clothes size. ❤️
