🎾 Year 3/4 Tennis Festival🎾

Luckily we had better weather this time last week when we welcomed 80 children from 8 local primary schools to our Year 3/4 Tennis Festival at Linton Village College.

Pupils rotated around a range of engaging tennis skills stations, developing their coordination, control and confidence, all while enjoying the opportunity to try something new alongside their peers.

A huge well done must go to the team of Year 10 Sports Leaders from the college, who led every activity with enthusiasm, professionalism and encouragement. They truly did a superb job supporting the younger pupils and creating such a positive experience for everyone involved 👏

It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces, great teamwork, and a real passion for sport on show throughout the event.

Thank you to all the schools who attended and helped make the festival such a success — we can’t wait to do it again! 🎾✨

Great to see children at Bar Hill School enjoying golf as part of their PE curriculum. We now have 21 schools across South Cambs that are part of the Little Sticks golf programme with Majesticks Golf Club.

It has been great getting out to support schools with taster days, extra curricular clubs and staff training this term as they look to embed golf within their curriculum and enrichment offers. It is a great activity for developing resilience, teamwork and respect.

We have some additional staff training next Weds 20th May 4pm at Histon & Impington Park Primary School if any other schools would like to join the session please get in touch.

In PE, the children in Dolphins class are continuing their exciting mini‑golf‑inspired unit.

They began with a fun warm‑up activity called Cross the Swamp, working in pairs to strike a ball towards a target while navigating obstacles such as cones. This activity helped them develop their aiming, striking and problem‑solving skills, as they carefully planned how to avoid barriers and reach the target in as few shots as possible.

The children then built on these skills by taking part in a series of mini golf‑style challenges with a partner. They took turns to complete each “hole,” recorded their scores and aimed to finish using the fewest shots. Throughout the lesson, they showed good sportsmanship, cooperation and patience, while following safety rules.

Overall, the class thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of this new activity. They gained confidence in their striking accuracy, learned to think strategically about their shots and experienced friendly competition in a supportive environment.
