It's GCSE Results Day!!! 🎓🎓🎓
Congratulations on making it through such a difficult time, especially since you guys had to do exams when the last 2 years didn't - you did absolutely amazing! Everyone here at CamWAMS are so incredibly happy for you!
But always remember that if you didn't necessarily get the results you wanted, that is still okay! Results on a piece of paper do not define you, and many of us here at Cambridge studying Medicine didn't always get the grades we wanted. So make sure that if you are in that position, that you keep your head held high, and look forward. As it is always a good useful learning experience to know where you can improve in the future!

It's A-Level Results Day!!! 🎓🎓🎓
Congratulations from everyone here at CamWAMS! We really hope that you got the results that you wanted - and have made it to the university and course of your choice!
Even if you didn't necessarily get the results that you wanted, we hope that you have got the results to get into another university or course. Below we've listed a few things you may want to do if you didn't meet your conditional offer:
1. Speak to your teachers - they should be able to give a good idea of what you may need to do next
2. Call the University - there are times in which the university may still be able to accept you even if you didn't meet your conditional offer so it may be worth giving them a ring to see if they can still accept you or if they can offer you a place on another course (just be prepared for long telephone wait times!)
3. Call UCAS - UCAS has dedicated helplines for exam results support:
England: 0800 100 900
Scotland: 0808 100 8000
You may also want to call them if there has been a change in your application or want to know about any options for clearing or adjustment

“If I mess up my interview, I definitely won’t get in.”
Absolutely not true! Here are a couple of reasons why you shouldn’t put yourself in a pit of despair before, during or after interviews:
1. Interviews are just one aspect of the application
2. Rarely do you and the interviewer agree on how well your interview went
3. You usually have multiple interviews

Here's this week's clinical question!
*Answer Spoiler Below*
Meningitis is an important and urgent case in A&E, because without treatment, it can lead to brain injury and even death. As such knowing the symptoms is key. However, the difficulty is that some of these symptoms appear in other conditions - but in this particular case, the non-blanching rash is indicative for meningitis. However, be warned as this rash does always appear!

Peterborough City Hospital is one of the regional hospitals that you can get placed in your clinical years. You rotate around 'three regions' and get placed in one hospital each year. Perhaps you'll see all the cases here!

Have you ever thought about the pH of human blood? Well now you have!
The pH of human blood is important and tightly regulated in the body. As such, deviations can clearly indicate a patient who is unwell. Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Renal departments are the departments which pH is most important, but through the use of Arterial Blood Gases, it is a good indicator, for any doctor in the hospital, on the state of their patients.
