πŸ„πŸŒŸ A Fantastic Day at the Farm! πŸŒŸπŸ„

On Friday 2nd October our students had the exciting opportunity to welcome some special visitors to the farm, including Brian Mathew MP for Melksham and Devizes, Mayor of Devizes, Vanessa Tanner, and Richard Rogers, Strategic Engagement and Partnership Manager at Wiltshire Council.

The visit gave guests the chance to learn more about the incredible work the farm does and how it supports schools like Springfields in providing meaningful learning opportunities for young people. We were proud to showcase our vocational qualifications, our Animal Care provision, and the many benefits these experiences bring to our students.

A particular highlight of the day was the official opening of the farm's brand-new wooden learning cabin, which will provide a valuable indoor space to support learning during visits. The Mayor and MP were delighted to cut the ribbon and mark this exciting milestone.

Most importantly, our students were outstanding throughout the visit. They confidently spoke with visitors, shared their experiences, and represented Springfields brilliantly. We couldn't be prouder of the way they showcased themselves and our school.

πŸ“Έ Here are a few photos from the day.

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
β€’ Building warm, trusting relationships
β€’ Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
β€’ Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
β€’ Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
β€’ Being clear and honest about confidentiality
β€’ Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.
