Walking from one part of the garden to another yesterday (I was tidying up) and I had a snag moment. You know one of those moments where something stops you (a scent, a sound, a feeling) or something catches your eye.

Moreoften than not we simply carry on getting on with the job. A snag to me is to stop then like a snag in a jumper follow the thread. Why is this significant at this moment?

Well, this sunflower 🌻that snagged me won't win any competitions that's for sure and that's the whole point. Greg use to say to me in life 'the squeaky wheel gets the oil' so things that are bigger, louder, more dramatic gets the attention. So much so we miss the smaller, more meaningful aspects of what's actually going on around us.

So when you have a snag moment, follow the thread, pause and think why? It's not about overthinking, it's about taking you away from the chatter. Infact is this a snag on your newsfeed right now for a reason? 💛

Have a beautiful day 🌞

Anyone else thinking the same as Louis?

He had his 1st booster injection at the vets today and anyone who know's him knows that was mahoosive.

Another week done and dusted, so have a ponder, can you answer these questions to yourself:

This week...
1) Something that you learnt about yourself...
2)Something that made you belly laugh...
3) Something that was a challenge...
4)Something that caught your eye...
5)Something that was a surprise...

When faced with life's challenges the brain naturally defaults to a challenge being a negative experience because it's likely to involve struggle and potential failure. The brain is programmed to be on the lookout for challenges to avoid them, a fear of judgement from others arises here if we feel we are unable to 'perform'.

The Growth Mindset finds excitement in challenge as this is how LIFE flows and unfolds. Finding excitement in the fact that it is unfamiliar, it is taking time and requires effort because learning overides the fear of the unknown.

When did you last embrace a new opportunity? The question is - Did you survive? Actually did you look back weeks later and think, 'that wasn't that bad actually' .

Let's create a mindset shift to face challenge differently. You may think avoiding challenge makes things easier in that moment but it simply creates gaps in the next steps along life's lessons. Challenges are in our path for a reason 💚🟩

Just moved my sofa to hoover behind and this whopper was on the back of the chair, did I flinch, scream, run out of the house - nope!

And this got me thinking about something I've been talking alot about over summer with new and existing 1-2-1's: OVERLAYS, now you're confused, let me explain.

When we are born we have no story, just a name infact when you look at the character traits of a young child they ARE pure Growth Mindset in action!

🧠embracing challenge
🧠deliberate practice again, and again, and again
🧠find humour, especially when it comes to themselves
🧠no self judgement or judgement of others
🧠resilience - the world would be a very different place if we stopped learning to walk after 2 attempts.
🧠exploring, being curious, asking questions why? why? why?

Then the overlays are added layer by layer:

🕷I am this culture that culture
🕷I'm this nationality
🕷I'm supposed to act this way
🕷Ooooh I didn't like that, I'm not doing that again
🕷You're good at that / not good at that
🕷Why can't you be more like.....
🕷What if....??
🕷Labels are given, you're a shy person, angry person, anxious, clever, a natural, sporty, a maths person.

This impacts our perception of ourselves and the world in which we live, so much so by the age of 10 we're 80% fixed mindset... I know bonkers isn't it!

So why the spider? Because I wonder how many of you out there have an overlay linked to a fear of spiders?
Where did that overlay come from? A book you read, a YouTube Video, a film you watched (that Harry Potter scene in the woods 😲), a sister, brother, parent who hates spiders, stories you've heard?

Understanding your overlays is what I'm about delving into the fixed mindset that creates fear, avoidance, worry, judgement, anxiety. Getting to the root cause and any overlays that are not serving you it's about you taking back control as opposed to your thoughts re-running the programme. Some of the conversations have been really interesting lately.

It's time for you to find your INNER BABY we've all got one, the overlays have just got in the way.

When you're preparing tea, everything goes quiet and you turn around 🤣 I don't know who's influencing who, but seen as Barney's the eldest he's definitely the leader of the tribe 🐾 and the boys would never argue with him 🐾🐾

I've been off radar for a week or 2 - July and August are historically quieter months for Grow Your Mindset with schools closed and the holiday season for businesses.

Nevertheless, behind the scenes we've been busy with our 'learning is limitless' mindset, Stanley is well on the way with his Therapy Dog Training and me? I'm doing a Trauma Healing Coach Certification which aligns incredibly well with the Mindset Journey I've been on for the last 8 years.

And well Louis - he's been testing our mindset when it comes to focusing 🤣

I hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine 😎

So what are GyM Drop Ins all about?

Liz (Founder of Grow Your Mindset) arranges for a 2 hour visit to your workplace at a time to suit, then staff can come along for a chat to share, to reflect, to gain new perspectives, get hints, tip and grow. (Remote option also available)

Yesterday Liz spent time in a local business and this is what one of the colleagues had to say:

"I recently used one of the workplace drop-in mindset coaching sessions with Liz and it was incredibly helpful. I had been struggling with some leadership challenges over the past couple of weeks, and Liz listened with warmth and understanding. She shared practical knowledge, supportive advice, and a relatable story that really helped put things into perspective. I left the session feeling more confident, reassured, and better equipped to handle the situation. I would highly recommend these sessions to anyone looking for support and guidance within the workplace."
