What an incredible year it's been! We are so proud of everything our pupils have achieved and all that we've accomplished together as a school community. From exciting learning experiences and memorable events to personal successes and teamwork, it's been a year to celebrate!

A huge thank you to our amazing pupils, dedicated staff, supportive parents, and carers for making this year such a success. We couldn't do it without you! 💙

Now it's time to relax, recharge, and enjoy a well-deserved summer break!

School will return on Thursday, 3rd September 2026.

We wish all of our families a safe, happy, and restful summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting year of learning and adventure!

We were thrilled to welcome Thurston Performing Arts to Riverwalk School for an unforgettable day of music, movement, and fun!

Our students were treated to an incredible dance performance before getting the chance to join in during an exciting workshop alongside the talented Thurston students. There were smiles, laughter, and plenty of enthusiastic dancing as everyone had a go at learning a simple routine, or simply enjoyed moving to the music together!

It was wonderful to see all of our students taking part with such confidence, enthusiasm, and joy. A huge thank you to Thurston Performing Arts and Miss Barnes-Smith for sharing your talent, energy, and kindness with us. You brought so much happiness to Riverwalk School, and it was a day our students (and staff) will remember for a long time!

🌟 Leavers’ Prom 2026 🌟

What a fantastic evening celebrating our amazing leavers at this year’s Prom! From the moment everyone arrived in style, looking absolutely incredible, it was clear that this was going to be a night to remember.

The dance floor was never empty as we laughed, celebrated and danced the night away, creating memories that will stay with us for years to come. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and marking the end of such an important chapter together.

As the evening drew to a close, there were plenty of smiles, hugs and a few bittersweet goodbyes. While we are sad to see our leavers move on, we couldn’t be prouder of all they have achieved and the young people they have become.

We would like to wish each and every one of them the very best for the future. Whatever path you choose next, we know you will go on to do amazing things.

🌟 Multi-Skill Council Meeting 🌟

Today, four of our amazing students attended the Suffolk County Council Children & Young People SEND Improvement Board – Multi-Skill Council Meeting at Sybil Andrews Academy, Bury St Edmunds.

They joined students from Sybil Andrews and were welcomed by Susie McGivor and Jamie Mills from Suffolk County Council. Together, they explored the themes "I am Healthy, I am Safe, and I am Happy," discussing what makes them feel good, where they feel safe, what they enjoy doing with friends, and how schools and Suffolk County Council can support them.

Our students were incredible, sharing their ideas through drawing, using their Talk Pad, writing, and speaking. Their voices were heard, their opinions mattered, and they represented our school brilliantly.

We are so proud of each and every one of them for their confidence, enthusiasm, and valuable contributions. 💙👏

Due to the ongoing heatwave we have made the difficult decision to postpone this weeks Sports Day.

However, we have resheduled this for Monday 13th July.

You will receive an message from your class teacher on Evidence for Learning informing you of your time slot.

🌳 A walk in the park for Sharks 🦈

Sharks went to Nowton Park, demonstrating excellent listening skills and safe walking behaviour throughout the journey.

Upon arrival, they visited the café, where they displayed positive social skills by waiting patiently, using polite manners, and speaking kindly to one another. Each child enjoyed choosing an item to purchase before sitting together to eat and chat appropriately 💚

Afterwards, the children played with bats and balls, taking turns, sharing equipment, and encouraging one another during their games. Once everyone had finished playing, the group walked back to class, continuing to demonstrate positive behaviour, good listening skills, and respectful social interactions throughout the return journey 🏏⚽🩵

Greenfingers (Bury in Bloom) Judging Day 💚🪴

We were delighted to welcome the Judges Mags and Jasmine today to see our beautiful garden. Bradley, Julie and Charlie from Bury Town Council came along to support the school. The judges took time to see our garden and meet some of our students who had dressed in yellow and had Winnie the Pooh toys to support the theme of the competition which is 100 years of Winnie the Pooh.

We are extremely grateful to Bradley, Julie and Charlie for all the support, ideas and enthusiasm they bring to Gardening Club each week. Students have been working hard, planting seeds for the sunflowers, tending the hanging baskets and growing tomatoes, spring onions, green beans and rhubarb. Classes are making rhubarb crumble during the last week of term and Bradley Julie and Charlie are joining us to enjoy the results 🫛🍅

🎉 What a fantastic day celebrating the Consortium Trust's 10th Anniversary at Thorington Theatre!

We were so proud of our amazing students, who gave a brilliant performance and represented Riverwalk School with enthusiasm and confidence.

Congratulations to Helena for winning the KS4 writing competition and reading her story to the audience, and to Kacper for winning the KS3 category. A special mention also goes to Edward, who shared his experiences of 14 years at Riverwalk during the welcome.

Well done to everyone involved - a wonderful day and a great celebration! 👏💙
