Burton Teddy Bears Nursery

Burton Teddy Bears Nursery Offering childcare for ages 0-5 year olds. I still to this day love being outside at every opportunity. They built secure friendships, as did we!!

Burton Teddy Bears Nursery, a beautiful purpose-built setting catering for children aged 0-5 years set in the heart of Burton Village, near Christchurch, Dorset. I (Hannah) grew up in the village of Burton in the days where you could spend most of my days out and about, either fishing in the stream, climbing trees and just relishing being outdoors. When our three children came along, the village p

ull was still strong and the community was what we craved as a family. This time, we saw our daughters through nursery, primary and senior school. We named and chose the logo of Burton Teddy Bears to represent each of our daughters and due to the historic fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears being written and brought to life here, we felt it was extremely fitting!!

πŸ”’βœ¨ National Numeracy Day is creeping up on us!

Did you know? Building number confidence from a young age does so much more than teach children how to count πŸ‘§πŸ§ πŸ‘¦

Early numeracy helps develop the brain’s cognitive architecture β€” laying the foundations for:
⭐ Critical thinking
⭐ Spatial awareness
⭐ Problem-solving skills

The little moments matter πŸ’› so here at Burton Teddy Bears Nursery counting steps, balls, spotting shapes, sharing snacks equally, or talking about numbers in everyday life can all help children grow into confident learners.

At Burton Teddy Bears Nursery , we love our nature walks and the wonderful opportunities they bring for children and team members to explore the world around us πŸŒΏπŸ‚

From spotting signs of seasonal change to observing wildlife and enjoying the fresh air, every walk encourages curiosity, conversation, and learning through experience.

Back at nursery, we have also been busy developing our mathematical and literacy skills through lots of fun, engaging activities πŸ“šπŸ”’βœ¨

Every day is filled with opportunities to learn, discover, and grow together! πŸ’›

Burton Teddy Bears Nursery have enjoyed the sunshine this week and made the most of getting the Water play out, starting with our youngest babies! This offers essential, holistic developmental benefits for children, acting as a calming sensory experience that builds fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, and social skills
Group water play fosters cooperation, sharing, turn-taking, and teamwork. Children often narrate their actions, which builds vocabulary and language skills.

It has been a very busy time for Burton Teddy Bears Nursery not only have we been experiencing the awe of the world around us, learning about the moon and the new crater names!
We also had a very special visitor 'Pantosaurus'
The importance of the dinosaurs visit reiterates to the children:

P – Privates are Private: Parts of the body covered by underwear or swimwear are private and should not be touched or seen by others.

A – Always Remember Your Body Belongs to You: Children have the right to set boundaries and should not be made to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable.

N – No Means No: Children can say "no" to anyone, even family members or loved ones, if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

T – Talk About Secrets That Upset You: Teach children that there are good secrets (like parties) and bad secrets (which make them feel scared or sad).

S – Speak Up, Someone Can Help: Remind children to tell a trusted adult if something makes them worried, confused, or upset.

Today, we had the wonderful opportunity to welcome Adele from the RNLI to Burton Teddy Bears Ltd, where she spoke about the vital topic of water safety. Given our surroundings, it's crucial to educate our children early on how to keep themselves safe around water. A big thank you to the RNLI for this engaging session; the children absolutely loved it!

The RNLI's Seaside Safety Song is a catchy tune designed to help children enjoy the beach safely while having fun. Lyrics:Choose a lifeguarded beach if you'r...

Good morning,

Our team are all trained in Paediatric First Aid and we feel that it is really important for parents to know basic first aid for children as it can save lives, lessen impact of injuries, and help us feel confident in emergencies, like choking, burns, or falls.

Since children's bodies differ from adults, having the right knowledge allows us to provide the best care quickly, preventing small accidents from turning serious while waiting for professionals.

We're organising a parents session at Burton Teddy Bears on Wednesday, 18th March from 7 to 8:30 pm.

The cost is Β£20 pp and the trainer prefers cash payment if possible.

Please let me know if you would like to book on and apologies for the short notice!

Burton Teddy Bears Nursery have been joyfully celebrating nature with the Holi festival, which marks the end of winter and welcomes spring. This fun activity helped the children connect with seasonal changes while playing with colours (gulal), boosting their mood, creativity, and hand-eye coordination.

At Burton Teddy Bears Nursery, we want to say a huge thank you to Joanne Defries and Rose for bringing Nesta, Nelly, and baby Dave to visit us this week. The children truly enjoyed cuddling and petting the adorable puppies!
Engaging with animals plays a vital role in helping children develop empathy, patience, and confidence.

Our youngest children also had a lovely stroll to see the horses and discover the signs of spring emerging around us! Connecting with nature has a wonderful calming effect, helping to reduce stress and anxiety, and boost the overall wellbeing of both our children and our dedicated educators!
