Here’s a little sneaky peek at what our Minis and Juniors will be making in the first two weeks back — and they are delicious.
Week 1 we will be cooking Welsh rarebit muffins, a savoury, cheesy bake that fills the room with the best smell.
Week 2 we will be diving into a coconut, cherry and white chocolate bake — sweet, soft and packed with flavour.

Perfect comfort bakes to ease everyone back into the new term.

The Department for Education’s new Enrichment Framework recognises the important role that enrichment activities can play in children’s development — and we’re delighted to see practical cooking included! 🍳✨
Cooking isn’t just about following a recipe. It gives children the opportunity to develop:

🧠 Problem-solving skills
👩‍🍳 Practical skills for everyday life
The framework also aims to help close participation gaps for disadvantaged pupils, support wellbeing and attendance, and give children more opportunities for personal development.
Although the framework is non-statutory, Ofsted will begin considering the benchmarks during personal development inspections from September 2026.

We’ve been working with schools across the UK for many years, delivering fun, hands-on cookery experiences that help children build confidence, learn practical skills and discover the joy of making something for themselves.
Practical cooking has been recognised within the “Wider Life and Future Skills” category of the framework — something we’re very happy to see! 👩‍🍳🥰
Because sometimes, the skills children learn in the kitchen are the ones they’ll carry with them for life. 💛

If you have a teen or tween who loves to cook, we’d absolutely love to see them at our Academy classes. Whether they’re just finding their way around the kitchen or want to level up the skills they already have, Academy is a brilliant place for them to grow in confidence.

🍂 Halfway Through the Holidays Already…
As much as I don’t want summer to be over just yet, we’re officially over halfway through the school holidays, and it’s nearly time to start thinking about September.

I’ve got lots of exciting plans lined up for the new term — fresh recipes, fun themes, and plenty of hands‑on cooking for your young chefs.

Since starting with Cook Stars last October we already work in partnership with 3 schools in Burton providing fantastic afterschool clubs with 2 more coming on board from September and another 2 from October half term.
We currently have space for one more school on a Thursday.

✈️ A Little Break… But Summer Fun Returns Soon!
I’m off for a well‑earned break next week, so there’ll be no cooking workshops for a few days.

But don’t worry — once I’m back, the summer fun continues with more delicious, creative sessions for your young chefs. I can’t wait to get stuck back in and cook up even more tasty treats with them.

🍦 Ice‑Cream Cupcake Workshop – 18th & 19th August!
On 18th and 19th August we’re hosting our super fun Ice‑Cream Cupcake Workshop where children will bake delicious cupcakes and decorate them with buttercream, sprinkles, sauce and a flake to look just like a Mr Whippy.

And that’s not all… while the cupcakes are baking, we’ll be opening our very own Ice‑Cream Parlour! Children can create their own banana split or knickerbocker glory as a special treat.
It’s going to be a sweet, creative, sprinkle‑filled couple of days — perfect summer fun for your young chefs.

🍫 Chocolate Truffle Workshops – 25th & 26th August!
On 25th and 26th August, our little chefs will be diving into the delicious world of chocolate truffles!

They’ll experiment with different flavours, coatings and toppings to create their very own unique chocolate truffles to take home — the perfect mix of creativity and indulgence.
It’s hands‑on, messy, chocolatey fun… and a gorgeous treat for parents at the end.
