5 Signs You Might Be Experiencing Burnout

• Feeling exhausted even after resting.
• Finding it difficult to concentrate.
• Becoming more irritable than usual.
• Feeling detached from work or daily life.
• Losing motivation for things you once enjoyed.

Recognising the signs early can make a real difference.

Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

RCPsych statement on Channel 4 ADHD documentary 19/08/2026

This ridiculous documentary...

I refrained from comment as I didn't wish to give it more airtime or free publicity, given it was framed as rage bait

I have remained lost for words at the harm it has done to the ADHD community

Here is the Royal College of Psychiatry response. I couldn't have worded it better myself.

If you haven't watched it yet, don't bother, it won't be beneficial in any way except to increase its publicity, viewership and personal upset.

You don't need to earn rest.

Rest isn't a reward for being productive.

It's something every brain and body needs.

When we constantly push through tiredness, stress and overwhelm, our wellbeing suffers.

This week, give yourself permission to pause.

A short break today may help you achieve far more tomorrow.

Many neurodivergent people spend years masking their differences to fit in.

Masking might include:
• Forcing eye contact
• Rehearsing conversations
• Copying others' behaviour
• Hiding sensory difficulties
• Suppressing natural responses

While masking can help someone navigate social situations, it can also be exhausting and contribute to anxiety and burnout.

Creating environments where people feel safe to be themselves benefits everyone.

Rest in peace Professor Arday

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all those who loved him, in particular his children and family

Forever an inspiration to the neurodivergent community to never allow society to place limits on what you can achieve

A tragic loss and sad reminder of the vulnerability of being neurodivergent, particularly when in the public eye

No lessons learned from the 'be kind' campaign

No lessons learned on understanding neurodivergence, learning support needs

There is blood on many hands, who belong to people who will never be held to account

Following the recent events, who on earth would want to attend a so called prestigious university that allows such ill treatment of a faculty member and provides such a significant lack of support? A university that has a notorious history of treating neurodivergent students in a similar manner

Many adults aren't diagnosed with ADHD until later in life.

They've often spent years wondering why everyday tasks feel more difficult than they seem for everyone else.

A diagnosis isn't about putting a label on someone.

It's about understanding yourself, accessing the right support and learning strategies that work for your brain.

Sometimes understanding is the first step towards self-compassion.

3 Simple Ways to Reduce Burnout

Burnout doesn't happen overnight. It builds gradually when our minds and bodies don't get the chance to recover.

Today, try just one of these:

✨ Take a proper lunch break away from your screen.
✨ Say "no" to one non-essential commitment.
✨ Spend 10 minutes outside without your phone.

Small changes repeated consistently often have the biggest impact.

If you're experiencing ongoing exhaustion, overwhelm or struggling to cope, remember you don't have to navigate it alone.

Routines don't have to disappear during the summer holidays.

For many people with ADHD, structure helps reduce stress and make everyday life feel more manageable.

That doesn't mean every hour needs to be planned.

Simple routines like:
🌞 waking at a similar time
🍽 regular meals
🎲 predictable activities
🌙 consistent bedtimes

..can make a real difference.

Flexibility and routine can exist together.

Survey: Children's Services Involvement During SEND and Education Disputes 08/08/2026

📢 Parents and carers of children with SEND – we’d really appreciate your help. 💙

If your family has experienced Children’s Services involvement alongside disputes about SEND, school attendance, EHCP provision, EOTAS or related legal proceedings, we encourage you to take part in this survey. 📝

💔 We know these experiences can be deeply traumatic to revisit. The required questions take less than five minutes to complete, and we have intentionally kept the narrative questions optional.

🔒 All responses are treated confidentially, and no identifiable information will be published.

📝 Survey:

📊 In just two weeks, 118 families have come forward to share their experiences. Although the survey remains open, the emerging patterns are already striking.

📌 Around 80% of respondents describe Children’s Services becoming involved, or existing involvement escalating, during an education dispute, or in the context of nursery attendance concerns, unmet SEND needs or early educational provision issues that later developed into formal disputes.

📌 Around 90% of respondents describe Children’s Services involvement as being connected to their education dispute, with many explaining that safeguarding concerns arose or intensified after requesting an EHCP, challenging inadequate provision, pursuing EOTAS, appealing to the SEND Tribunal, issuing Judicial Review proceedings, making complaints or questioning professional decisions.

📌 Around 90% of respondents describe safeguarding being used, or believe it was used, as a response to, or in defence of, concerns, complaints or legal challenges relating to their child’s education.

⚠️ Only 13 respondents explicitly answered “No”, with many others who gave a different response nevertheless describing strong suspicions, supporting evidence, or experiences of safeguarding processes being used to undermine, discredit, intimidate or silence them.

💙 The survey remains open. Every response helps build a clearer picture, and every voice matters.

🙏 Please consider taking part and sharing with other SEND families.

Survey: Children's Services Involvement During SEND and Education Disputes Thank you for taking part. We are gathering information about families' experiences of Children's Services involvement during disputes about special educational provision, including EHCPs, alternative provision, EOTAS, school attendance, SEND Tribunal appeals and judicial review.
