Behind a mother's eyes you'll find a story so often not seen. You'll see heartache and joy, sorrow and hope, loss and love. You'll see pages left unsaid and words so often silent.

Behind her eyes are dreams and hopes and wishes and tries and falls and stumbles and glories and fails.

Behind her eyes is love. The fiercest and gentlest. The boldest and bravest. Deep, in the heart, indescribable love.

Behind her eyes is years and months of little sleep. Of nights awake and walking and mornings so so early. Of waiting for texts or walking babes. Of giving up rest for those she loves.

Behind her eyes lives courage. Moments of giving and trying even at the point of breaking. Moments of staring in the mirror not even recognizing her own eyes back. Moments of standing up and sitting down and not quitting and saying enough.

Behind her eyes is grace. The sweetest grace, the grace that so often cannot seem to be found, and there it is, in the moments where her eyes catches those she loves and the world sets down the agenda and all is well.

Behind her eyes are tears so often held back, that sometimes can't remain. Tears of letting go and loving fiercely. Tears of loss and tears of hope. Tears left unshed and tears waiting to be released.

Behind her eyes is this song and dance and lyrics of the years passed on by. It's in birthday songs sung and carols heard and years of memories building up to a beautiful crescendo of busy and calm, normal and crazy, tedious and loving.

Behind her eyes.

Behind her eyes is a warrior, a saint, a giver, a nurturer, a giver, a creator, a mother.

So the next time you find yourself saying, "you look tired..." to a mom remember the imperfectly perfectly beautiful story behind her eyes.

What an interesting idea if done with the right intentions

In a quiet corner of Germany, bags of food are discreetly hung for those in need — the poor, the hungry, and the vulnerable. There are no public displays or fanfare, no cameras or videos to capture the act. It’s simply an unspoken gesture of goodwill and service, done with humility and compassion. This quiet kindness, absent of any need for recognition, serves as a powerful reminder that true generosity often goes unseen, yet its impact is deeply felt.

I saw this earlier and it got me thinking. Do these words resonate with you too?

Are you dimming your light, afraid of standing out, yet frustrated with playing smaller than you feel capable of?

What one small step can/will you choose to take today, to widen your impact for yourself and those around you?

Be bold. Dare to dream AND take action. You've got this!

Full poem - MARIANNE WILLIAMSON
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

DON'T waste a second sweating the negative small stuff.

However, DO notice and appreciate the small stuff that can bring joy to each moment - that cuddle with your child or dog, a green traffic light, a warm coffee, sun on your face. ....

Ever get stuck in knowing but not doing?

Me too

We know what we should/could/want to do, but just don’t do it.

We get in our own way. Self-sabotaging, held back by our ego, which with the best intentions, is trying to keep us ‘safe’.

It’s amazing how urgent loading the dishwasher can suddenly become, when you have that difficult call to make 🤣.

So how do you keep the ego calm enough to enable you to stretch the boundaries of your knowledge and experience?

One way is to chunk down any task into its smallest component. For example, if you want to do 50 squats a day, start with a commitment to do just 1.

Want to write a book, start with an intention to write just one paragraph today.

Building on this, I recently came across a useful approach in a thought-provoking course created by fellow coach Sandra Goodman:

Just for today ….

It is part of the five principles of Reiki. Just for today…

✅ I will let go of anger
✅ I will let go of worry
✅ I will count my many blessings
✅ I will do my work honestly
✅ I will be kind to every living thing

What a great philosophy for life.

Taking the idea further. Rather than committing to do something, or give up something, ‘from now on’ …., instead, set a different type of intention.

Just for today, I will ……

See what a difference it makes.

Ps. If you’d like to discover more about energy work, and the power of self-healing, I highly recommend getting in touch with Sandra. As an experienced Reiki Master, her passion and knowledge shines through, including in her online introductory Reiki Level One Course.

A reminder as you start a new week to focus attention only on what you CAN influence.

In reality, you have full ‘control’ over very little of your life, and this is important to accept. It can be the source of much unhappiness and stress otherwise- trying to control the uncontrollable.

You actually don’t have control over your thoughts either - we have around 60,000 a day, so that would just be exhausting and debilitating.

What you do have more control over, is which thoughts you engage with.

You can do this by raising your consciousness - through your noticing / choosing what you set your brain filters to see as ‘important’.

That’s why gratitude practices are so valuable. Make spotting things to be grateful about important, and you will set your brain to seek more of them- and feel more contentment when you do!

The opposite is also true, when you become hyper-vigilant, and see things to worry about in every situation. This can be incredibly draining and limiting to your ability to take action.

Control, or self-command, can also be enhanced by noticing when you have engaged in a negative thought. When it has already triggered a release of feelings (chemicals) in your body.

Notice when you have triggered your ‘fight, flight, fawn or freeze’ response. Notice it physically in your body. Be curious about what activated it and why.

Remember- just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.

Catch yourself jumping on the ‘catastrophe train’, when you allow further similar thoughts to pile in.

Pause, breathe, let those negative feelings past. They will, although it can take 20 mins for all the sensations (energy) to fade.

When you feel ‘out of control’, start with self-compassion.

Appreciate you are a perfectly imperfect human being, and that is perfect!

Did you know, most of what we think isn't true, or is at best, wildly inaccurate?

If you let that sink in, it's quite profound.

We can be endlessly interrupted and cajoled by our thoughts and yet, so much of what we take to be 'true' is not.

The human brain is an amazing thing, and yet it does have limitations. Its purpose is to keep us 'safe', not happy. To assume and exaggerate the worst, however unlikely it may be.

I've been reading a book called "Solve for Happy", and in it, Mo Gawdat talks about the 7 features which historically have helped each of us function in the world, but which also create 'blindspots'. Our brains are deleting and distorting endless amounts of info in order to 'survive', however, this can lead to a whole lot of stress and catastrophising.

So what are the 7 super-features that can also cause us problems:
💡Filters
💡Assumptions
💡Predictions
💡Memories
💡Labels
💡Emotions
💡Exaggeration

In addition, he talks about our brains having an overarching tendency to be 'grumpy'. We tend to think negative, self-critical, pessimistic and fearful thoughts more often than positive ones, and give them greater weight in decision making. We give them more brain processing power too.

A key point I noted was that once the brain starts to look for bad news, it stores it immediately in the long-term memory. In contrast, positive experiences have to be held in our awareness for over 12 seconds in order to transfer from short to long-term memory.

So what does all this mean for us?

✅Recognise that much of what you are thinking isn't accurate, balanced or 'true'. Most thoughts should be ignored as such, or at least questioned to consider if they are made up using one or more of the 7 functions above.

✅We have an estimated 60k thoughts a day. You can literally say, "I don't like that one, bring me a better one" - I do this and it has been a total game-changer in terms of increased peace of mind.

✅If you want to be happier, consciously 'record' positive moments. Know that only by paying them more attention (for 12 sec+), will you remember them. I liken it to taking a mental polaroid of mini-moments. The more pictures you take each day, the happier your perception of the day/life will be.

“Being present is more important than being perfect”.

Where do you need to be more present in your life?

✅ with family and friends
✅ with your fitness / wellness
✅ with your finances
✅ with your team
✅ with your vision and mission
✅ with your personal growth

To be more present in these places, you also need to be less present elsewhere :
1. Being self-critical, constantly reliving the past (using distorted memories)

2. Spending time and energy worrying about the future, creating scenarios and catastrophe trains that will never happen.

3. Comparing and contrasting your life to others, particularly on social media.

Make a start at being more present today. Pick one area and see what a difference it makes.

Happy bank holiday!

The dawn of a new day of possibilities.

A blank page for you to write your own story.

To own what you do, where you do it and who with.

To do things that bring you fulfilment, connection, happiness, love, creative inspiration…..

Remember, you are the oldest and wisest you’ve ever been- and the youngest you’ll ever be.

What will you do with yours?

If you had to pick a word of the week, what would it be?

A word that encapsulates your intentions for the week ahead. Something inspiring that you can use as a call to action, and a reminder when you find yourself getting distracted from that mission.

Mine is PERSISTENCE.

Why?
While I have a strong bias to action, I am also easily sidetracked by shiny things, including new ideas, books, and initiatives.

So, in order to keep on track this week, I am setting my intention to be PERSISTENT in my actions and focus, including daily planning, making time for deep work, and on sticking to certain behaviours I have prioritised on my habit tracker*

Persistence also because our rescue cat keeps bringing in fleas, which he kindly passes on to the dog and they are a total pain to irradicate. So it is an endless cycle of washing, spraying etc until they are gone. Any top tips welcome !!

What will help you have a winning week?

Happy Friday! Before diving into the weekend, take a minute to consider, how much have you been 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐥𝐞𝐝 this week?

Or have you ....
❌Been moving to the beat of others' needs and demands?
❌Found yourself driven by your endless to-do list, rather than a love-to-do list?
❌Had tech pinging at you demanding attention, instead of being the conscious manager of your own time?
❌ Been fuelled by fear, shoulda,/couldas, and 'compare and dispair', rather than purposefully following your own path to success?

In today's distracting world, the ability to be self-led and take the reins of your time, attention, actions and growth is an absolute superpower.

An essential path to maximising your own fulfilment, happiness, and potential.

𝐒𝐨, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭? 🌟

✅Start by cultivating self-awareness, knowing your passions, skills, strengths, values, and also your self-sabotaging strategies (yes, we all have them!!)
✅Fiercely protect your time, set actionable daily goals, and clear boundaries
✅Seek help to hold a mirror up, so you can see your blind spots, and gain accountability to keep you on track
✅Take the initiative to seek opportunities beyond your comfort zone. A self-led individual takes proactive steps to identify challenges and grab them head-on, nurturing an environment and mindset of continuous learning and development.
✅Challenge the status quo. Share your ideas for innovation and improvement openly, but without attachment
✅Lead by example, motivating others to take ownership of their own roles and collectively strive for excellence.
✅Embrace setbacks as personal learning opportunities
✅Make the time to quieten your mind, so your inner voice of knowing can be heard

What stands out for you personally to do differently going forward, in order to become more self-led, and ultimately love the life you live?

ps: you might be wondering about why the kitten p**n - I just love the image of her curiosity and simply doing her 'thing'.
