Welcome back, Burford!

We can't wait to have our school full of life again.

A very warm welcome back to students in Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13, and a huge welcome to our new Year 7s and Year 12s, who have already settled in beautifully and made a brilliant first impression.

A new school year brings a fresh start: new subjects, new challenges, new clubs to try, trips to look forward to and plenty of moments to be proud of.

Whether this is your first week with us or your seventh year, we hope you feel part of something special here.

Our thanks, as always, to our staff, our boarding team and our families for the warm welcome you give every student walking through our gates.

A reminder for our new Year 7 students!

🎉We’re so excited to welcome you to Burford School tomorrow morning.

Please arrive by 8:25 am.

🥪Please bring a packed lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while SCOPAY accounts are being set up.

Food will be provided for students eligible for free school meals.

One week to go.

Next Wednesday our new Year 7s and Year 12s walk through the Burford School gates, and the whole school is back the day after. We can't wait to welcome everyone.

📌 Tuesday 1 September - INSET day, school closed to students
📌 Wednesday 2 September - Year 7 and Year 12 start, 8.30am
📌 Thursday 3 September - whole school returns, 8.30am

We're also delighted to say that applications are still open for our outstanding Sixth Form. It's a place where students are genuinely supported through the demands of A Level study, and where strong GCSE results open the door to courses that stretch and challenge them.

The full picture from GCSE results day 2026. 14% of grades at 9-8, 25% at 9-7, and standout performances across German, Engineering, Music, Spanish, DT and RE.

But the headline isn't the percentages. It's the individual students behind them, each one now well placed for whatever comes next. Congratulations again, Year 11. 🎓
