Today is thank a teacher day - a day dedicated to honouring all the amazing staff who work in and for our schools. At Jacobstow we have some of the very best and it is a privilege to work with such a wonderful team of individuals who put children at the very centre. Our brilliant Oak Class have been working as geographers to deepen their understanding of Earth’s biomes and exploring the fascinating differences between them. From scorching deserts to icy tundras, they’ve been asking big questions about how life survives in such extreme places.

After investigating each biome’s climate, wildlife and the unique adaptations that help living things thrive, the children designed and created their own miniature biomes.

What a fantastic afternoon at the Budehaven rounders competition. The children were on top form — showcasing sharp bowling, confident catching, powerful batting and some brilliant strategic play. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and the way they supported one another, especially alongside our Y5 team coach, turned every moment into something to be proud of.

A huge thank you to the Budehaven PE department and their Sports Leaders for organising and delivering yet another enjoyable competition. A big thank you to the parents for transporting the children and cheering them on from the sides with lovely encouragement.

Well done to everyone involved — a wonderful afternoon of teamwork, talent and school spirit.

Despite the rain, our children had an amazing time exploring the SS Great Britain yesterday. They were fully immersed in history—dressing up and using their imaginations to think about what life would have been like as passengers on board.
The highlight of the day was our trip to the theatre to see Matilda. The children were completely captivated—wide‑eyed, smiling from ear to ear, and it was an absolute joy to watch their excitement throughout the performance. We are so proud of them all for their enthusiasm and superb behaviour. A truly memorable day for everyone!

Our Year 3 and 4 students have blasted off to an incredible start on their Bristol adventure! After a quick check-in at our accommodation, we walked into the wonders of 'We the Curious' science museum, where our young explorers discovered the magic of interactive exhibits. The planetarium show left them starstruck and the launch-it show, all about forces and explosions, was a thrilling experience! We're beaming with pride at the courage and enthusiasm displayed by our children, many of whom are taking their first brave steps away from home.

As we pause for half term, it’s a good moment to reflect on the care, encouragement, and support our children receive every day at school.

If a member of staff has made a difference to your child this term, helping them grow in confidence, feel supported, or enjoy learning , you might like to share a few words of thanks.
