🎻🩰❄️ On Friday, our hall was transformed into a winter wonderland as Toscana Strings brought The Snowman to life through beautiful live music, ballet and storytelling.

Children clapped, moved and joined in, watching spellbound as music and dance worked together to tell the story. There were smiles, gasps of amazement and plenty of enthusiastic participation throughout the performance.

A huge thank you to Toscana Strings for giving our pupils such a memorable experience and the chance to enjoy the magic of live performance first-hand. 🎶✨

We are delighted to share that we currently have spaces available in our Nursery for children aged 2-4 years.

Our Nursery provides a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn through play, build confidence, develop friendships, and begin their educational journey with the support of caring and experienced staff. We are passionate about helping every child thrive and creating a love of learning from the very start.

We also have places available for children due to start Reception in September 2027. Our Reception class offers an exciting, child-centred curriculum that supports children to become independent, confident learners while fostering creativity, curiosity, and a sense of belonging within our school community.

🌟 What a Busy Week in Willow Class! 🌟

Willow Class have had a fantastic week full of learning, creativity and new experiences!

In PSHE, we have been creating our own Regulation Toolkits, thinking carefully about strategies and resources that can help us manage our emotions and wellbeing.

In Geography, we continued our work on comparing Blackpool Beach and Summerleaze Beach, exploring their similarities and differences and developing our understanding of places around the UK.

We finished the week with not one, but two exciting opportunities! The children thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful performance from Toscana Strings, who inspired us with their talented musicianship. We then took part in Bikeability, developing our cycling skills and learning how to stay safe when riding our bikes.

Well done, Willow Class, for another brilliant week of learning! ⭐

🔬💧 Science in Reception, Year 1 and 2! 💧🔬

Last week, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children have been exploring materials and learning about their different properties.

Today, we became scientists and carried out an investigation to discover which materials are the most absorbent. The children tested five different materials, making sure each one had the same amount of time to absorb water so that the test was fair.

The children made predictions, observed carefully and discussed their results. They were excited to find out which materials soaked up the most water and which did not absorb much at all.

We are so proud of the children's enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent scientific thinking throughout the investigation! ⭐🧪

📚🕸️ Maple Class have been completely captivated by Charlotte’s Web! Through the story, they’ve been developing their reading skills by retrieving facts quickly, skimming and scanning for information, and exploring characters’ thoughts and feelings.

We've enjoyed some thoughtful discussions, especially about Mrs Arable’s emotions and how different characters react to events in the story. It’s wonderful to see the children reading with such curiosity and confidence! 🌟

Our Level 2 Bikeability riders have been practising their manoeuvres and bike control skills before heading out onto the road. To achieve Level 2, children must demonstrate safe signalling, turning, road positioning and awareness of other road users.

We are incredibly proud of the confidence, resilience and responsibility they are showing as they work towards becoming safe young cyclists 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️

🌟 Launceston College Adventure Day🌟

Our Year 5 and 6 children had an incredible time at the Launceston College Adventure Day, showing courage, teamwork and determination as they tackled a range of exciting activities. We are so proud of the way they supported one another and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to the organisers at Launceston College, the PE teachers, coaches and Sports Leaders for creating such an inspiring and memorable experience. Your enthusiasm, encouragement and dedication helped our children step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges and create wonderful memories that will last for years to come.

Today, our young artists became colour experts as they explored the colour wheel and experimented with mixing primary and secondary colours to create tertiary colours. There were lots of exciting discoveries as the children investigated how colours change and combine to create new shades and tones! 🖌️

In Maths this week, the whole school have been consolidating their Place Value learning. It has been wonderful to see children taking pride in their work, focusing on neat number formation and carefully presenting their work using the one digit, one square method.

The children are blossoming into confident young musicians, and it’s been wonderful to watch their musical spark grow. Music weaves through our week — from joyful singing in assemblies to listening closely to different pieces, talking about what we hear, and learning to clap along to steady rhythms.

Oak class has their next challenge coming up ... the recorder — a true school classic. Did you learn the recorder when you were at school? We’d love to hear your memories.
