My ideology as a teacher focuses on the needs, success and progression of the one. This requires individual differentiation, assessment and monitoring to ensure progress. However, progression is not purely academic, it is mental, physical, emotional and social. If a child feel success, they want more and begin to push themselves. If given proper motivation and praise they will want to progress further, therefore perpetuating the cycle of success. By ensuring that the needs of the individual are cared for, the whole class progresses.

If diagnosed early enough, so many mental health issues that are rife in the UK could be tackled. If not dealt with, you end up with people who have to spend the rest of their lives fighting mental health problems. By recognising issues amongst children and adolescents, the fight on mental health issues could be massively reduced as the early causes of these problems are properly and healthily dealt with. It won't require inhibiting drugs or lengthy counselling. It will be removed before it can grow.

For a child to really succeed, not test scores or essay marks, but real success - as in becoming a rounded, well-put together individual who is ready to contribute - must be set upon the basis of three things: a secure environment, dedicated educators and caring criticism.

A child who comes from a secure environment will have a confidence that those around them will support them and because of this will work hard to please them. A child who has dedicated educators - this encompasses teachers, tutors, family and friends - has the reassurance that this selection of people is looking out for their well-being above all else. And a child that has caring criticism in their lives are open to improvement and accept that there will be others who are more experienced, educated or suitable for a task, creating a humility but also a desire to become better.

If a child has these in there lives they are given a sure foundation upon which they can build their minds. They are free from unnecessary anxiety caused by outside influences that a child shouldn't be exposed to. They are free from being demeaned or made to feel inadequate. They are free of the fear of failure because they understand that education is a life long process and that they will never stop learning. Failure is merely another opportunity to grow and develop.

If a child has a sure foundation, sky scrapers are not the limit.

The good news in education is that attention is finally turning to the psychic and emotional qualities that children bring to the classroom.
