This week we experimented with the value element of art. We learnt that by adding white to a pure colour, we could make a flat, two dimensional object look real and three-dimensional.

Once they had painted their objects creating their tints, we talked about composition of their artwork and adding shadow.

There was a lot to pack into just over an hour and a half, but as usual there was a real buzz in the room, two hairdryers on the go and bags of enthusiasm!

This week we looked at how Tim Rodgers Jr used positive and negative space as the focus of his dog series. The positive being the object (dog) and the negative, the space behind and between. He then used symmetry, pattern and complementary colours to create these bold, playful designs.

We had a go at recreating his work and the results were outstanding! This project was accessible for all and everyone went home happy with their artwork! 🖼️

Fab job Primarters, I would happily hang any of these on my wall with pride! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This birthday girl had lots of fun painting dolphins with her friends last weekend and I had a great time teaching them too! 🐬 🧑‍🎨 🖼️ 🎨

In just a couple of hours, they created their masterpiece’s which they all proudly took home!

It was so lovely to be back on Friday after the summer break! The kids were buzzing and eager to get their creative juices flowing! 🖼️ 🧑‍🎨

We were so busy that I barely had time to take any photos, but hopefully you get the gist of what we got up to from the few we did take!

The kids started off by drawing something meaningful to them, perhaps a memory, a trip from their holidays or even just something about themselves. They then cut their picture up into squares before rearranging them onto a grid. Using 3D foam pads, metallic card and shaped hole punches they embellished their work as they wished!

It was lovely to see them all busy, happy and fully engaged! 🤩😃🥰

Hidden message art has been used in art therapy and it can successfully be used for hiding worries or anger as well as cementing positive memories.

I had the pleasure of hosting a party last week for these two gorgeous girls and their lovely friends! 🎉 🥳 🎈 🎂

They decided on horses as their theme and in just a couple of hours we created these masterpieces! Didn’t they do a fantastic job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

In keeping with the bright and sunny weather, last week we explored colour theory! 🌈

Using just the primary colours the kids were able to complete colour wheels mixing both secondary and tertiary colours. They were blown away that they could complete this activity just using red, yellow and blue! 🎨

Once they had completed their wheels, they took inspiration from the famous architects, Gaudi, Wright, Hadid, Hundertwasser, Adjaye and Sejima to decorate each ‘slice’ as a different building. They used a variety of thin and bold lines to add curves, slants, patterns, waves and blocks to add their detail.

It was a lovely calm activity on a very hot day, just what we needed to end the week!

We’ve been busy keeping these a secret over the last few weeks but hopefully there will be lots of happy Primart dad’s by now so we can reveal what we’ve been up to!

The kids have been really creative with these and I love how each one is unique to their dad! ❤️

What a perfect way to end half term doing something meditative and with very few rules! Just what the kids needed I think! 😇

Last week they created their backgrounds by dropping water colour paints onto pools of wet patches on their paper. They blew the paint, splattered it, and even tipped the drips off the edges until they were happy with their work.

This week we worked on turning them into non-objective doodles. Using black sharpies, acrylic markers and metallic pens the kids got busy adding organic, curved shapes and doodles… trying hard to not include any geometric lines! They used the white negative spaces created from the watercolour as a starting point for inspiration.

Some chose to add lots, some less and some were even going to carry on at home!
Whatever the outcome, the process was lots of fun and all the kids left relaxed and happy! 😃

Always love watching the kids faces when they reveal the results of oil pastel transfers!
You’re never quite sure how they’ll turn out but the results were striking 🤩 Bold, bright, effective and so easily achieved!
