Butterflies to the rescue 🔥
The butterflies have had a very exciting day; we started the day by taking part in a fun fire-themed tuff tray activity, where all the butterflies were given the task of putting out the fire, using water, paintbrushes, and pipettes while dressing up as firefighters.
To build on this, we went on a special trip. We first got on a bus to the fire station; we were super lucky, as when we arrived, we got to meet two firefighters who were so kind to let us have a look at a real-life fire engine, as well as even going on it as an extra special treat. It was so exciting looking at all the different equipment and meeting the two amazing firefighters.
While on the trip, we took part in a transport tallying activity, carefully looking at the different types of transport we could see and marking them off on our boards. We saw buses, cars, bikes, vans, lorries, and bicycles.
We then got the bus back to nursery; it was a lovely trip out.

Today, the Grasshoppers enjoyed a fun and refreshing ice painting activity. They worked together as a team to choose which coloured paints they wanted to use before each selecting a paintbrush. The children demonstrated excellent fine motor skills by using a tripod grip to hold their paintbrushes, giving them good control while painting. They had lots of fun painting the ice and watching the bright colours spread across its surface. As the activity continued, the children noticed that the ice, which is a solid, began to melt. We talked about how heat causes ice to change from a solid into a liquid, and that the liquid formed is water. This was a wonderful opportunity to explore early scientific concepts through hands-on play.

Queens holidays!✈️🏖️
Today, the grasshoppers had a fantastic time with holiday role play. We transformed our home corner into an airport, and the children boarded with their boarding passes, excited to jet off to sunny Mallorca!
We took off from Queens Airport on a Jet2 flight, with our skilled pilot Courtney flying us safely to sunny Spain. Once we landed, the children enjoyed plenty of beach fun and a lively party!
We loved splashing in the water, building sandcastles, posing for photos, and making wonderful memories together during our holiday!
Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday! (Other airlines are available.)

Goodbye butterflies! 🦋👋
This week, the grasshoppers had a fantastic time bidding farewell to our butterflies. We’ve truly enjoyed watching them grow and learning about their lifecycle together. During the butterfly release, the children had the opportunity to gently handle some of them, extending their hands for the butterflies to climb on. It was such a wonderful experience for everyone!

Goodbye Butterflies 🦋
Today, we said goodbye to our butterflies. Over the past few weeks, we observed their journey from caterpillars to forming chrysalises and finally emerging as beautiful butterflies. We loved closely examining their brightly coloured wings and witnessing their growth.

International picnic day! 🧺🥪🌳
oday, the Grasshoppers celebrated International Picnic Day by making sandwiches with Courtney. This activity allowed them to practise their fine motor skills as they used knives to spread fillings. Afterward, they headed to the local woods for a picnic! They chose a lovely spot with a view of Knighton Pond, sat down with their teddies, and enjoyed a delicious picnic together. It was a fun day full of learning and play!

Colour Monster Sensory Bottles ❤️

Today, the butterflies enjoyed making their own colour monster sensory bottles! They filled their bottles with various liquids, using different colours to represent what the colour monster teaches us. We also practiced our gross motor skills by pouring with pipettes and shaking the bottles once finished, allowing us to see the colourful liquids mix together. It was a fun and creative activity!
