Inspired by a kitchen timer shaped like a tomato, Francesco Cirillo found that breaking working sessions into 25-minute sprints with a short break in between felt more manageable and allowed for better productivity.

Using this technique can sometimes be a great way to break up homework or revision sessions into smaller chunks.

"How was school?"

It's the go to question we so often ask our children on the journey home from school. They're often tired and don't really have an answer for us!

What are some alternative questions that you ask your children to try and get an idea of their school life, and what they're learning?

It's always so lovely to hear what they've been up to, and so valuable to help us understand where they thrive, and what some challenge areas might be. Their experiences and understanding can also help inform private tuition, including which topics they would benefit from extra support, and which learning styles they prefer.
