ZAP TEAM: OUT FOR THE COUNT! 😂💤

I think these photos accurately represent the current state of Team ZAP after an incredible summer! 😂

What an amazing few weeks it has been. 💙

Our children have been INCREDIBLE, our team have been PHENOMENAL and, most importantly, we have had SO. MUCH. FUN. 🌈

There’s been messy play, water fights, crafts, games, sensory play, LOTS of laughter, new friendships and more chaos than we could possibly count. 😂

But amongst all that fun has been something really important.

For many of our children, the long school holidays can mean losing the routines, structure and familiar faces that help them feel safe and secure. ZAP has given them somewhere familiar to return to each week — with familiar adults, familiar children and a routine they know.

And watching children arrive excited to see us, recognise their friends, grow in confidence and simply have a place where they can completely be themselves is exactly why we do what we do. 💙

A HUGE thank you to our families for trusting us with your incredible children this summer.

And an even bigger thank you to Team ZAP. The energy, patience, care, enthusiasm and love you give these children is something very special. I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better team. 💙

Now judging by the photographic evidence… I think they might need a little rest. 😂😂💤

Have the loveliest rest of the summer everyone. ☀️

Summer ZAP 2026 — COMPLETED! 🌈💙

See you all again soon!

Sometimes the most special moments at ZAP have nothing to do with the activities we’ve planned. 💙

These two children are both non-speaking.

But look closely at this moment and there is so much communication happening between them.

They were interacting with each other, responding to one another and enjoying being together without needing spoken words. Seeing friendships and connections develop like this is incredibly special.

And it’s one of the reasons consistency during the school holidays matters so much.

Coming back to the same club means familiar surroundings, familiar adults and, importantly, familiar children. It gives relationships time to develop without the pressure of having to start again each time.

Of course they love the arts, crafts, sensory play, games and general ZAP chaos 😂🌈

But ZAP isn’t only about keeping children busy during the holidays.

It’s about belonging.

It’s recognising someone.

Choosing to sit beside them.

Sharing a moment.

Communicating in your own way.

And sometimes, making a friend. 💙

Communication doesn’t always need words.

Dear Parents and Carers,

An amber weather warning is in place for Thursday, with temperatures expected to reach 36°C. We therefore need to make a temporary change to the club’s usual opening hours.

As you know, the club supports children with complex additional needs. Many of the children find it particularly difficult to regulate their body temperature and emotions during periods of extreme heat. Some children are also unable or unwilling to wear shoes, creating an additional safety concern when using our largely concrete outdoor area in very high temperatures.

Our secure outdoor space has limited shade and will be too hot to use safely during the afternoon. Remaining indoors is unfortunately not a suitable alternative, as the large glass windows in the hall are known to create a significant greenhouse effect.

We fully appreciate the vital role the club plays in providing children with routine and families with much-needed respite. However, the safety and wellbeing of the children must come first. We have therefore made the difficult decision to run a shorter, earlier session this Thursday.

Instead of the usual hours of 10:00am to 3:00pm, the club will open one hour earlier at 9:00am and close at 12:00 noon. This will allow us to provide a three-hour session during the cooler part of the day.

Parents and carers may request either:

A partial refund for the two hours affected; or
A credit to be applied as a discount to a future booking.

We recognise that this change may cause inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your understanding. Having considered the forecast, the individual needs of the children and the limitations of our facilities, we believe this adjustment is in everyone’s best interests.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Kind regards,

Mikayla x

And just like that… it’s the weekend! ☀️💦

One week of summer ZAP done and two more weeks of madness to go! 😂💙

This photo pretty much sums up our week.

Wet clothes.
Huge smiles.
Lots of laughter.
And children being given the space to just play, have fun and be themselves.

We’re officially full with a waiting list, so this definitely isn’t an advert 😂 I just love this photo far too much not to share it.

Time for Team ZAP to recharge this weekend… because we’re doing it all again next week! 🌈💦
