Piano lessons with Mark Hodge take place online, via Zoom meetings, or in person, should the student live in or around South West London. Competitively priced and as flexible as possible, each session is laid back and informal in tone but with an emphasis on real progression. Students having fun often don't even notice that they're working! Mark has played the piano for 30 years and has been teaching privately for the last 20. His natural passion for sharing his love of playing is obvious to his students. All styles and all ages (though younger children may need support at home with online lessons). Students progress from beginner to intermediate, up to advance levels in classical technique, improvising and even composing. Sight-reading is considered as important a skill as playing from chords and creating original accompaniments on the spot. But the most important aspect of this approach is that the students find their own passion within music and are supported in their pursuit. Mark studied piano at Wi******er College and graduated in a different field from Oxford University where he was a regular in bands in musical theatre. His work as a performer has taken him to the piano bars of New York, to the jazz terraces of the French Riviera and the venues of the West End, including the London Palladium, the Barbican and the Roundhouse. As a composer Mark has written for the hit podcast and stage show, the Guilty Feminist, and several quizshows, including Global Pillage.
