CAN OUR HEROES ESCAPE NIDHOGG’S LAIR?
Deep beneath the world-tree, where the sun never shines and the air smells of ancient bones, four brave adventurers face their greatest challenge yet.
In our latest Myth Makers production, Hope, George, Nuala, and Frida venture into the icy depths of Niflheim to retrieve the lost Amulet of Avallo. But the terrifying dragon Nidhogg is waking up, and his "deafening stomps" are getting closer...
This 2.5-minute epic was written and performed by the children, featuring:
Original Ad-libs: From hair-raising gasps to the final cheer of "We're alive!"
Live Foley Effects: Listen closely for the crunching of ice spikes, the snapping of Yggdrasil’s roots, and the heavy breathing of the dragon.
Bookings for the June block are now open. Spaces limited to six children. Link in comments.

Myth Makers: Summer Quests Are Calling!

With our current block wrapping up tomorrow, we are looking ahead to our next big adventure!
To protect the "flow" of our quests and ensure our Myth Makers have plenty of breathing space during a busy time of year, we are taking a short break. Between the May Bank Holiday and SATs week (beginning 11th May), we want to make sure the children have a chance to regulate and rest before we dive back into our Norse-inspired world.

We will be returning to St Werburghs Community Centre in June for more epic battles, folklore, and creative world-building! 🛡️✨

June Block Details:
Dates: Monday 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th June
Where: Room 10, St Werburghs Community Centre
For: Young adventurers aged 8–13
The Vibe: Low-demand, high-engagement, and 100% neurodiverse-friendly.
📅 Booking Deadline: Monday 25th May

As we keep our squads small (maximum 6 learners) to ensure a calm and supportive space, places are limited.
Bookings are officially OPEN now!

We can't wait to see you all in June for more magic, runes, and legends.

It was a truly creative Myth Makers session today! 🌿
We dived into the legend of Idunn and her Apples of Immortality, exploring what "life force" really means to us. It led to some brilliant debates about the motivations and choices of the Norse gods—these kids really know their mythology!

The imagination was well and truly flowing as we crafted Cloaks of Transformation using treasures from the Children's Scrapstore Bristol. One young person even designed a genius "Ear M**f Hat" (which I’m very proudly modelling here!). Even Ratatoskr didn’t miss out—he’s sporting a brand-new cape. 🐿️

To finish, we painted hazelnuts to represent the moment Loki helped Idunn escape. A perfect blend of lore, craft, and deep thinking.

Wild Bristol Phonics Cards | Multisensory SEN & Regulation Tool — Nicki Ryszka : SEND Specialist Tutoring & Creative Home Education 17/02/2026

Reading isn’t just a mental task—it’s a whole-body experience. 🧠✨
As an SEN teacher for 13+ years, I know that for many children, sitting still is the biggest barrier to learning. When we force the body to be still, the brain stops focusing on the phonics and starts focusing on not moving.
The solution? Regulation First. 🧱🏃‍♂️
In this video, we’re using the Wall Push. This provides deep proprioceptive input (heavy work) to the muscles and joints. It "maps" the body and grounds the nervous system, creating the perfect foundation for a sound to actually stick.
I’ve combined this science with Set 1 Phonics and the beautiful landmarks of Bristol to create a toolkit that works with your child’s nature, not against it.

My Wild Bristol Reading and Regulation Cards are for sale now on my website: www.wholeandwildlearning.uk/shop/p/wildbristoldeck

Chasing away the winter blues with a splash of summer! 🏖️🦀

Yesterday’s session was Beach Themed, but it wasn't just for fun. We used the theme to regulate our nervous systems so we were ready to learn:

🌊 Deep Pressure: We started with giant beach ball squishes to calm the sensory system.
🦀 Grounding: We moved into animal poses (Crab walks!) to connect with our bodies.
🏃 Activation: We played high-energy letter recognition games involving running and throwing to wake up the brain.
🔤 Application: We built words using our trusty foam discs from Children's Scrapstore Bristol

We finished calm and cozy with a story from Grandpa.

Want to join the next wave? 🌊
Our current block is finishing, but the NEW block is open for booking now! Link in comments.
