Interviews can be tough, especially if you’re aiming for your dream job in a competitive market. But don’t worry—preparation is your secret weapon. Let’s talk about five key mistakes you can avoid to turn those interviews into golden opportunities:

1️⃣ Don’t Skip Planning and Research
Walking into an interview without knowing the company is a huge red flag. Research their mission, values, and recent achievements. Show you’re genuinely interested in their success, not just yours.

2️⃣ Don’t Wing Your Answers—Use the STAR Method
Rambling can lose an interviewer’s interest fast! Instead, structure your answers:
• 🟡 S: Set the scene.
• 🟡 T: Explain your task or role.
• 🟡 A: Outline the actions you took.
• 🟡 R: Share the result or impact.
This clear and concise approach keeps the focus on your skills and achievements.

3️⃣ Don’t Overlook Body Language
Your body speaks before you do! Keep your posture confident, make eye contact, and use natural gestures to emphasise your points.

4️⃣ Don’t Speak Negatively About Past Employers
Turn challenges into learning experiences. For example, replace complaints like, “My last boss was difficult,” with, “I learned valuable communication skills in that role.”

5️⃣ Don’t Forget to Ask Questions
When they say, “Do you have any questions for us?” never leave it blank. Prepare 2–3 insightful questions like:
• “What does success look like in this role?”
• “How would you describe the company culture?”
