Willow Tree Kindergarten

Willow Tree is recruiting a Kindergarten Assistant on a temporary basis from January 2026.

​

The post of Kindergarten Assistant is ideal for someone who already holds a minimum of Level 3 Early Years qualification and who is trained or currently training on one of the Steiner Waldorf Early Years Diploma Courses. It is an excellent opportunity to deepen ones knowledge and experience of the practical application of Steiner Waldorf Early Years education. You will be supported by an experienced teacher and other colleagues and Trustees comprised of parents and ex-teachers. Enhanced DBS clearance will be required for this post.

   

15 hours or more per week Term Time Only.

✨ Advent Spiral at Willow Tree Kindergarten ✨

This evening, with the days growing shorter and the imminent hush of winter settling around us, the children walked the Advent Spiral — a quiet, glowing journey that reminds us of the light we each carry within.

Step by gentle step, the children followed the evergreen path, lighting their candles from the central flame. Each little light placed along the spiral softly illuminated the room, showing how even the smallest glow helps brighten the world.

This simple, heartfelt tradition invites us all to slow down, breathe deeply, and welcome the peaceful stillness of Advent. 🌿🕯️

As the light begins to wane and the days grow shorter, we celebrate Michaelmas — a festival of courage and inner strength. 🐉⚔️✨

St. Michael’s image of taming the dragon is less about battles outside of us and more about the ones within. It reminds us to gather our inner light, our willpower, and our sense of bravery as we step into the darker months of the year.

🔥 St John’s Festival Magic 🔥

On Tuesday we gathered beneath the midsummer sky to celebrate St John’s Festival – a joyful time of light, warmth, and inner courage.

With fire sticks in hand, the children danced and sang in the woodland clearing, their voices rising like sparks into the air. The flicker of our crepe paper flames mirrored the glow within – that brave spark each child carries through the year.

These moments of wonder – of singing in the woods, of fire wands and friendship – stay with us long after the embers fade.

This week at Parent and Child, we are making kite paper sun's for our windows at home, celebrating midsummer and the warmth and light of Father Sun. ☀️

Grand Designs at Kindergarten!

A huge thank you to three of our wonderful kindy dads who so very generously gave up their Saturday to mend the garden playhouse!

Steve, Sam and Hugo lifted the whole house (yes, really!), removed the rotting floor and joists, laid sturdy plastic pallets, and installed a brand new floor — complete with a little doorstep and patio!

It’s looking very grand now and ready for many more years of imaginative play. We are so very grateful for your care, time and teamwork. What a transformation!
