We're recruiting for new Trustees, a Chair of Trustees and Treasurer! Responsible for the strategic leadership at WECIL, our Trustees ensure we stay true to our mission and values. This includes providing oversight and guidance on strategy, governance and financial sustainability, championing disability equality and advocating for the rights of Disabled people.

The role also involves contributing insight and lived experience as a Disabled person to help shape WECIL’s advocacy work, as well as attending board meetings, engaging with WECIL’s leadership team, and contributing expertise in areas such as finance, HR, marketing or policy.

Whether you have prior trustee experience or are stepping into this role for the first time, we welcome applications from people who share our passion for disability rights and inclusive leadership.

Yesterday was one of those days that reminds you why representation matters.
As a white family, we were welcomed into a celebration of at , and we came away with so much more than we'd expected.

On the drive home, and all evening afterwards, our conversations continued.

The children were talking about Carrom and asking if we could get a board to play at home. They were fascinated by the stories behind the traditions, the beautiful henna, the jewellery, the music and, of course, the incredible food.

It struck me that this is what cultural celebration can do. It creates curiosity instead of assumptions. It opens conversations instead of closing them. It gives children the chance to learn about one another's cultures not from a textbook, but by experiencing them together.

I'm incredibly proud to have played a small part in helping bring to life this year through the design and creative work. But today reminded me that the real impact isn't the branding, the programme or the signage.

It's hearing your own children come home excited to learn more about someone else's culture.

Thank you, @.choudhury @ and everyone involved for creating something so welcoming, joyful and important. Bristol is better for it. ❤️
