This Earth Day, the theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ – and we think that starts with the small decisions we make every day.

One of ours: no printed coursebooks. Our teachers use digital resources and tailor every lesson to the individual student. It is a small choice, but it reflects something we really care about – learning that is personalised, thoughtful and mindful of the world around us.

Happy Earth Day 2026. 🌍

What would you ask your teacher before your course? 💬

We sat down with our teacher Stephanie, who had some wonderful advice for anyone feeling nervous about taking that first step.

She encourages students and parents to get in touch before they commit – teachers are happy to talk to you ahead of your course, so you can feel confident before you arrive.

The results speak for themselves. One of Stephanie’s students has grown up to become fluent in three languages, including English, and is now studying Ancient Greek at Frankfurt University.

Drop your questions in the comments – and we’ll get our teachers to answer them!

English is full of surprises — and sometimes the most interesting words are the ones we never think to question.

‘The’ is our most-used word in the English language. It is only three letters long, and yet linguists and philosophers have spent centuries arguing about what it actually means.

This thread by breaks it down beautifully — from Bertrand Russell’s banana to ghosts in attics — and ends somewhere unexpected!

How do you find the perfect programme for a student who wants sports, countryside, a Harry Potter boarding school feel and a confidence boost?

This clip from our recent Agent Webinar shows exactly how we approach it. Ellie, Head of HR and Academics at our sister company Academic Summer, walks through a real student case – matching 12-year-old Sophia to the Pathfinders programme at SIDCOT School based on her individual needs, aspirations and ideal learning environment.

It's a small example of the care that goes into every placement we make at Living Learning English and Academic Summer.

Building confidence in English starts with trust.

In this clip, Michael talks about the importance of building a genuine, empathetic relationship with his adult students. When students feel comfortable, supported and understood, their English develops more naturally and confidently.

That’s what homestay learning is really about – not just lessons, but connection.

Michael teaches adult students in Sandwich, Kent and also runs the popular TikTok channel ‘English from the Pub’, where he shares practical English tips in real-life settings.

Homestay immersion is about much more than lessons.

Learning English happens throughout the day – during structured lessons, shared meals, conversations, activities and everyday life in the UK.

Alongside lessons, learners practise English through real experiences such as local outings, walks, museums, castles and time spent exploring British culture with their teacher.

Courses are carefully planned for children, adults and professionals. Families are welcome, and parents can learn alongside their children. Teachers are experienced hosts, carefully selected and vetted, with safeguarding in place for young learners.

From matching and planning to ongoing care and support, we manage every part of the experience so learners feel confident, supported and able to make real progress.

Safer Internet Day 2026 invites us to think more carefully about how young people use technology – especially as AI becomes part of everyday life.

At Living Learning English, we work with learners and families who all arrive with very different experiences, expectations, and boundaries around technology. That’s why online safety can’t rely on a single rulebook.

In our latest blog, we reflect on why safe and responsible use of AI works best as an ongoing conversation – one that includes young people, respects family values, and focuses on building judgement rather than fear.
