Mama Bear's Day Nursery Totterdown, Bristol

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol a lovely lady from our neighbourhood donated two beautiful cardboard dragons which were originally painted for and used by CBeebies.
She asked if we could find a home for them as it would be a shame to throw them away.
We all, children especially, got to love them very quickly and we decided to share them with everyone! They are displayed in our entrance to welcome everyone to our nursery and to promote love for books. Anyone who has a few minutes to stop and look at them, please also have a read through very useful ‘Tips on how to make story time EXCITING’.
Our children are very fond of all Zog stories and the orange dragon has been given a name very quickly 😊

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol the monthly theme in our baby room is “I wonder about Spring”.
Our babies have been exploring a farm scene sensory activity with coloured rice, felt flowers, and toy animals. They enjoyed exploring different textures, running their hands through the rice and touching and feeling different colour petals. Naming all the animals and making their sounds was a great fun!

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol our Preschool room have been planting their own Sunflower seeds.
They added the soil and then carefully placed the sunflower seeds into the soil. The children watered them and we talked about how the small seeds will turn into Sunflowers.
Over the next month we will be exploring animals and plant life cycles, this includes finding out about the life cycle of a Sunflower. The children took their Sunflower pots home with them and we asked parents if they could send us any photos of their growing seeds, in order for us to share with everyone how the flowers are progressing. 🌻

𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲… 𝘄𝗲’𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol we are very busy decorating Easter baskets right in time for Easter weekend so we can use them for some egg hunts! They might find a chocolate treat in the nursery to take home too! 🐣

Today at our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol the children participated in Mini Mind Matters circle time.
We each took it in turns to share positive affirmations - this included "I am strong, I am clever, I am kind etc." We also shared a book on identifying different emotions and how it is ok to feel different emotions throughout the day. After, we took it in turns to pass around the dinosaur to share any news with the group. We will continue participating in Mini minds circle time, which will involve practising different breathing techniques and listening to calming sounds.

To celebrate World Book Day, the children at our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol dressed up as their favourite characters from stories.
Many of them also brought their favourite books for us to read that day.
We made our own bookmarks and a few of our parents kindly came to read to the children. All to spread the love for books! 📕📚

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol we have been reflecting on our environment and have set up cosy, calm, communication friendly spaces where children have opportunities to explore but also to be mindful and interact with others and make friendships.
We used soft furnishings, natural materials, soft lighting and minimal clutter to create organised, inviting areas.

The Babies at our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol have so much fun spending time in our lovely garden, especially now that we have a little bit more sunshine!
The babies are learning to become Amazing Athletes!

The Bouncies at our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol had a go at measuring flour and water to make their own pancakes in our messy tuff tray.
Some of them got splashed a little during the fun but didn't even notice because they were really engrossed in the activity!

At our Totterdown Nursery in Bristol the Preschool groups theme for the month is 'I WONDER about Stories.’
The children loved listening to many stories this month and they have been very imaginative; recreating different stories through role play, messy play and also in their arts & crafts corner.
For example they have made caves from the ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ story, they have decorated their fish beautifully like in ‘The Rainbow fish’ story and they all had lots of fun acting out ‘The three little pigs’ story.
