This years Chef Observers award was presented to our Training Officer Rich Olpin, who's completely overhauled our associate training and is helping to raise our standards yet further with our post-test training and new initiatives including online presentations and futher training opportunities for our observer team. The Club Cup went to Mike Hall, our group chair for the past three years, who's done an outstanding job steering the group through the challenges faced during Covid.

Successful graduates from our recend Further Advanced Driving (FAD) course who were presented with their certificates at our recent AGM by IAM Examiner Andy Poulton.

Congratulations to (L-R main pic) Ali Burnell, Duncan Burnell, Merlin Wigley, Amy Kinder and Jonathan Harwood. Also successful, but not at the meeting was Alex Gleed. Well done team!

A keen group of members undertaking our ‘Further Advanced Driving’ course, which looks at their IAM RoadSmart Advance Driving Course material in much more depth, with reference to RoadCraft and is the ideal bridge on to local observer or Masters training.

Well done Amy Kinder, from novice driver to Track Star and IAM F1rst in 6 months :-)

Doing a bit of Advanced Driving around Castle Combe yesterday, very pleased as the little Fiesta won its class against some racy opposition :-). As Mr Cronin says were not all pipe and slippers!

Riversimple: A presentation on an unusual hydrogen car will be held at BAWA, Southmead Road, Filton on Tuesday 28 September 2021. Meet 7.15pm for 7:30pm

Riversimple is a UK based manufacturer of hydrogen powered fuel cell electric vehicles founded by former motorsport engineer Hugo Spowers. Hugo set up OSCar Automotive in 2001, which became Riversimple in 2007.

Environmental Consultant & Researcher Peter Lang will give a presentation on this unusual hydrogen car company.

I’m sure most of us in the AD world are aware, and fans of Reg Local ’s advanced driving channel.

He's got a wealth of experience, as a former Police instructor/examiner, he's also an examiner for the IAM so you might find his thoughts on how to pass the Advanced Driving Test of interest.

We’re really pleased to say we are well on with our current round of refresher drives and happy to report our observers continue to demonstrate why we have one of the strongest teams in the country.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming back our associates from the 17th!

From 17th May we will be able to resume our on-road driving activities. We are looking forward to resuming observed drives ASAP.

In the meantime our senior training team & LOAs are conducting refresher drives for our entire observer team to ensure we can hit the ground running :-)

The latest issue of RoadSmart magazine includes an article about one of our Masters members Alayne McGarry and her advanced driving journey up to gaining a Masters with Distinction in spite of her battle with young onset Parkinson’s.
