I've been reflecting on how to increase literacy & mathematics into our play space in meaningful ways for the children & increasing the real food props has been such a hit. Not only have they been noticing the letters & numbers on them but it has also added a deeper connection for some children where they've excitedly told me they know this item from home which has been an unexpected bonus 🥰 I now need to ask all my families to bring items from home so that I can make sure everyone feels their home is reflected in this way ❤ I also have added real house phones although those may be less frequently familiar & recipe books which often prompt lots of talk about food, sometimes using them as a menu for each other to choose from!

I've added cable ties to some lids that were a bit of a risky size for little ones so that they can still be taken on & off & have the experience of twisting to undo the lid. This has also meant they don't get lost straight away as opening & closing them i'm noticing is a big part of what makes it feel like they are really using them.

Scrapstore finds this week! ❤ I went looking for some cones to be ice cream cones & they even had the right colour 🥳 followed by some added maths & loose parts resources for the general environment. They've already prompted some lovely play & prevented items going into landfill ♻️🌍

Today was my first day open for childcare again since my new reopening ofsted inspection two weeks ago 🥳 so lovely to welcome back 3 of my old childmindees for holiday club & one new friend 🥰 it was an egg hunt in the garden, stories, hide & seek & painting kind of day 💕

Now the last couple of sessions have happened here I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who has come to play sessions/baby massage/the shop or hired the space 💕 it has been a lot to juggle solo in my first months & years as a Mum of two but now I can look back & am finding myself thinking what a beautiful thing was created here & you were all a part of creating that so thank you!! At first I felt sad to be stopping it because it has been such a big part of life & you're such a lovely bunch but now I have reached a point where I am just happy it happened & excited for the next chapter.

Quite a few of you have messaged saying this has been a big part of your maternity leave & i'm so pleased it achieved what i'd hoped, I can't tell you how much that means to a Mum that worked through most of her mat leave to try something out🥰

What's next? I am excited to be returning to early years based both here & in a preschool. I will be offering school holiday childcare from here too. Some children love holiday clubs but I always hated them as a child & much preferred the homely experience my younger brother's childminders offered instead when I joined them so I hope to give some children those same homely outdoorsy holiday memories that they can return to each break.

I am still training in hypnobirthing & do want to offer that at some point down the line, I feel very strongly that it changed my experience & I would love to give other women the same empowered feeling. So stick around if that might be of interest down the line!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! 💕 Doing this business I feel like I have had a window into the reality of motherhood for our generation. On the whole we are expected to Mother & run a house like we don't have work and work like we don't have children. We feel guilty or shamed by society for pretty much every decision we make; to work, to not work, to breastfeed, to bottlefeed, to cosleep, to move them into their room early, to buy everything new, to buy nothing new....the list goes on. So all I wanted to say to the wonderful Mums on this page that I've had the pleasure of working with over these past 2 years, you're doing SO amazingly 💕 everyday we are battling & juggling so many of our own challenges & societies issues & the fact that this is a parent & child business & 94% of my followers are women says it all!! We have a long way to go until things are equal but we need to be there for each other, keep fighting & believing because we've absolutely got this 💪💪🏾I'm tired of seeing Mums who feel like they're not coping or failing when actually we are just being set unrealistic expectations.

I was very pleased to be sending back over £230 to Mums today from preloved sales 🥳 thank you to everyone who has come along & helped it to end on a high- almost (still Tuesday to go!) BUT the fact all 50 of my clothes shop sellers are Mums says it all really!
