🧪 This week our intrepid Year 13 Chemists visited to exercise their analytical skills to determine the composition of a mystery drug “Bathenone”.

🧐 Our students used a number of techniques including solvent extraction, vacuum filtration, determination of melting point and infrared spectroscopy.

These are techniques that they have studied as part of their A Level Chemistry course and having hands-on experience is invaluable in embedding the concepts. A chemically excellent trip!

🍳 What an egg-cellent way to start the new school year!

Collegiate pupils were back at school today after the summer break, and we thought we’d make their first lunchtime back a little extra special with a delicious brunch! 😋

🥓 With sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns and mushrooms on the menu, there was plenty to get everyone fuelled up and ready for the term ahead. (Vegetarian sausages also available, along with other options such as smashed avocado on toast, pasta and jacket potatoes, as well as the usual salad bar.)

👋 It was lovely to welcome everyone back, catch up after the holidays and see so many smiling faces around school again.

📷 Collegiate CCF Cadets recently attended camp at Sennybridge for a week-long Shooting and Fieldcraft / Tactics package.

Over the course of seven hard and challenging days, the Cadets practised and built on all the lessons and activities they have learnt throughout the year.

Well done to LCpl Nolan & Cdt Thornton, who achieved their Marksman badges.

As the Cadets moved into the Fieldcraft phase, they undertook patrols and learnt the mechanics of operating as a unit on some challenging terrain, enabling them to build and develop confidence, teamwork, communication, leadership and self-reliance.

Thanks to all the Cadets and CCF staff who attended and supported camp.

🎉 GCSE Results Day 2026 🎉

What a morning! We’re so proud of our incredible Year 11 students, whose hard work, resilience and determination have been rewarded with a fantastic set of GCSE results.

A special congratulations to Ted, who achieved an extraordinary clean sweep of straight 9s – an exceptional accomplishment. 🌟

To every one of our boys and girls collecting results today, whether you exceeded your expectations, reached a personal goal, or overcame challenges along the way, today is your achievement to celebrate. We couldn’t be more proud.

We’re excited that so many of our Year 11 students will be returning in just a few weeks to begin their A Level journey at Collegiate. We can’t wait to welcome you back and see what you achieve next.
