As I get ready for my own 7 year old to return to school tomorrow I wanted to wish both parents and children good luck for the new academic year and remember you can only do your best. ❤️

A back to school poem… for those in need ♥️

Blazers too big and trousers too long,
shoes so new and shiny,
photos at doors, backpacks hung up,
on shoulders that still seem so tiny.

Smiles plastered on small faces, too pale,
holding it in with such might,
a heart full of love, a lump in your throat,
and no sleep for either last night.

A world of unrest, a life full of pain,
it’s hard to let them be grown,
these babies you nurtured with all that you had,
feel still too young to be flown.

But fly they must and you just have to trust,
that life will be kind to their heart,
a home full of love, is what you have made
and you’ve given the very best start.

So excited to be exploring this country this term with my little linguists. :)

So I did my first holiday club day with the wonderful Olivia Soulson and fellow colleague and it was so much fun. The children were brilliant and we visited 5 different continents doing a range of activities. Here are some photos of two Art activities we did, one making flowers out of plastic and the other painting our own Uluru stones. We also enjoyed having a turn on a didgereedoo and trying some Aussie hats on🇦🇺 🐨 🌏

We also looked at Food from Asia and found out who invented noodles and tried our turn at holding chopsticks in pairs. We then did a chopstick relay where the children had to pick up ribbons(noodles) and pom poms(dumplings) with chopsticks in the fastest time.

Spaces are filling up for our special Lingo Hoop day on August 19th. Please get in touch if your child wants to know more about the world around them. This will be a day of discovery, language and creativity. We will be focussing on the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and South America. We will be dancing, singing and playing lots of games to have fun but we will also learn how important it is to find out about serious topics like plastic pollution and bring in our own creativity to build on our own global awareness. If you would like a day of learning but in a fun way, then this could be the day for your child.

I am hopefully running 2 days of fun activities in August. This is open to all Primary school children in Bristol. The dates are August 12th and August 19th. There are 20 spaces available per day. If your child is interested choose a day and I will send you a form. The cost is £28. We will be looking at 5 different continents, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and Africa. There will be a real variety of activities, lots of fun but also lots of learning too. There will be a different focus for each continent.

Europe with a focus on famous Landmarks
Asia with a focus on food
South America with a focus on birds
Australia with a focus on Ayers rock and Aboriginal art
Africa with a focus on plastic pollution

If you have been to one of my After school clubs then you know what to expect but if you haven't this is a club that brings the outside world into your children's minds and hearts. Please share as I would really like these two days to happen.

What a fun term we have had learning about Canada. Yesterday at St Anne's Infant school we celebrated Canada day and ate pancakes with maple syrup. We played bingo, did a quiz and some drawings of maple leafs. I hope some of you maybe returning next term for another new country. And I am running a couple of Lingo Hoop days in the holidays at Whitehall Primary. If you are interested to book a place, please get in touch. More updates at the end of this week.
