You are not looking for someone to cure you. You stopped believing in that a while ago.

What you actually want is to stop spending every last piece of energy just surviving, and to have something left over to actually live with.

Kate found me after she had already tried the other things. The protocols, the supplements, the nervous system work, the breathwork, the carefully curated approach to living that took every ounce of effort she had and gave her some improvement.

Enough to keep going. Not enough to feel like she was actually living. She was also spending every conversation with her practitioners justifying her own history. Explaining why the last thing did not work. Bracing for the suggestion that she had not tried hard enough or believed fully enough.

What she needed was not another thing to try. She needed someone to stop and look at what was actually happening with her, without an agenda for what the answer should be.

That is what we did. We looked at what she actually had. What her body could genuinely sustain. What was taking from her energy and what was giving it back. What her real life looked like rather than the version she was supposed to want. And then we built something from there.

Hers. Honest. Realistic. She has more now. Not everything. Not a cure. But more than she had, and built on a foundation that is actually real.

If you have been waiting for someone who gets that, who will not dress false hope up as empowerment, and who will not waste your limited energy on things that do not actually serve you, I am here.

I have Charcot Marie Tooth disease type 1A. It's genetic.

My CMT is caused by a duplication of a 1.5-megabase region on chromosome 17, which includes the PMP22 gene. That duplication is written into every cell in my body. It causes my PMP22 gene to be overexpressed, disrupting the myelin sheath around my peripheral nerves.

That is not a belief system. It is not a nervous system pattern. It is the structure of my chromosomes.

I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The genetic marker for the hypermobile type has not yet been found. But EDS is a group of heritable connective tissue disorders rooted in genetic variations affecting collagen production and structure. It is passed down from parent to child. The research is still catching up. It is no less real for that.

No brain retraining changes either of these things. No amount of positive thinking or somatic work alters a chromosomal duplication or rewrites your connective tissue.

I am hearing from women in this space with these conditions who have been told by coaches that they are no longer hypermobile, no longer symptomatic, because of the inner work they've done.

These conditions were not caused by stress. They were not caused by negative thinking. They were not thought into existence.

And they cannot be thought out of existence either.

I believe in the body's capacity to heal. I have seen what pacing, capacity work, and nervous system regulation can do. I have lived it. It matters enormously.

But there is a difference between living well with a condition and curing it. When we tell people their genetics can be overcome by mindset alone, we are not being hopeful.

We are being dismissive.

Dismissive of the reality people are living in. Dismissive of the medical science behind their diagnosis. Dismissive of how hard they have already tried.

Has the work I've done changed my quality of life? Absolutely. Has it cured my CMT or my EDS? No.

And if someone is telling you it should have, could have, or will if you just try harder, that is not coaching. That is false hope dressed up as empowerment.

You deserve better than that.

If nervous system work was going to cure your chronic condition, it would have happened by now.

That is not a failure of effort. It is a failure of the promise that was made to you.

The work is real. It changes lives. I have lived it and I have seen it change the lives of the women I work with. But there is something nobody is telling you clearly enough about what it can and cannot do. And the gap between those two things is where a lot of women end up: working incredibly hard, getting some relief, but never quite arriving where they were told they could get. And quietly blaming themselves for it.

You are not the problem. The promise was.

Swipe through. This is what the work actually does, and what it cannot do.

Save it if it is useful. Share it if someone you know needs to hear it.

She hadn't sought medical support for five years.

Not because she was coping. Because someone in the wellness space had told her she didn't need to. That if she just did the work, healed her nervous system, retrained her brain, her body would respond. And that going to a doctor was, in some way, a sign she hadn't tried hard enough.

She came to me exhausted. Not just physically. Exhausted from trying. From believing that if she thought the right thoughts, followed the right protocol, committed fully enough, something would shift.

And quietly, deeply, blaming herself for the fact that it hadn't.

This is the part of the wellness world that worries me.

Not the idea that nervous system work matters. It does. Not the idea that how we respond to our condition affects how we live with it. It absolutely does.

But the idea that you can think yourself out of a diagnosis. That needing real medical support means you haven't tried hard enough.

That is not empowerment. That is blame with better branding.

You are not failing to get well. You are living with something real. And you deserve a team around you that tells you the truth.

Share your experiences.

Thirty years ago I met a man who had no idea what was coming.

Neither did I.

When we met I didn’t have names for my conditions. I didn’t know what my body was going to ask of us over the years. The appointments. The adaptations. Surgeries. Sick kids. Court appeals. The days when I’d come home running on empty and need someone to pick up the rest without being asked.

He didn’t sign up knowing any of that. If anything it has made him love us ALL more fiercely.

Today we have been married for 24 years.

What I know about a strong relationship, from the inside of one, is that it doesn’t happen on the day you get married. It happens every day after that, when you quietly choose each other again. Every day. Forever.

Real partnerships are never 50/50. Some days you walk through the door with only 20% and your person brings the other 80. Then it switches. And you don’t keep score.

We’ve do that in both directions through different seasons. Not just with health. With grief. With work. With parenting. With the hundred quiet ways life comes at you when you’re not looking - because that’s life.

He has and will always be my partner in crime.

Happy anniversary my darling husband. Love you millions. ❤️❤️❤️

Check out how young we look!

Not because you're not trying. Because it's the wrong level.

This week I've been sharing the six places people with chronic illness get stuck. Environment. Behaviour. Capabilities. Beliefs. Identity. Purpose.

Pouring energy into behaviour change when it's a belief doing the deciding doesn't work. Focusing on identity when the environment needs to shift first doesn't work. The effort is real. The level is wrong.

Getting the level right changes everything.

This summer I'm opening up a small number of Level Up Sessions.

A single 90-minute session built around the NLP Logical Levels framework with a chronic illness twist. We spend the time mapping exactly where your system is caught. Not vague reflection. A proper diagnostic.

You leave knowing which level is holding you, and what moving it might make possible.

£99. July and August only.

If it feels like the beginning of something bigger, we can talk. But there's no obligation. Some people take what the session gives them and run with it themselves. That's completely fine.

Booking link in my bio. Or reply here with any questions. I read everything.

They've spent years pushing through. Adapting. Managing. Reorganising their lives around a condition that keeps changing the rules. And when things aren't working, the assumption is they need to try harder, be more disciplined, find a better system.

It isn't a motivation problem. It isn't a mindset problem.

It's a level problem.

And once you find the right level, things can move.

This summer I'm opening up a small number of Level Up Sessions. A single 90-minute session where we use the Dilts Logical Levels framework to find exactly where you're stuck.

Environment. Behaviour. Capabilities. Beliefs. Identity. Purpose.

One session. We find yours.

This is not a taster. Not a sales call. It is a proper piece of work with a clear output: you leave knowing which level is holding you and what moving it might make possible.

£99. July and August only.

If it becomes the beginning of something bigger, we can talk about that too. But the session stands completely on its own.

Book via the link in my bio. If you have questions, reply here or send me a message. I would love to hear from you.

When we traced it back, really back, we found something that floored me. That belief had been built by a child who learned very early that if things didn’t get done, life became unsafe.

Responsibility wasn’t a value she’d chosen. It was a survival strategy she’d never been given permission to put down. And now that same belief was running her decisions. Driving her into a whole week of exhaustion. Adding up quietly in small ways. The ‘no’ because that felt the easiest thing to do, or just a quiet voice saying I’ll do that when… But the conditions that made that ‘when’ perfect didn’t really come. Costing her herself.

The beliefs organising our decisions about what we can handle, what we deserve, what rest means, these don’t always announce themselves. They just run quietly in the background. Until you look at what they’re costing you.

I see this in almost every client I work with.

Not laziness. Not lack of willpower. A belief system doing its job, with devastating efficiency, in the wrong context.

What do you actually believe about rest? Not what you think you should believe. What does the voice say, when you stop?
