My First Word...grows up is a childcare setting providing excellent care for children aged 0-5 with very flexible hours available including funded spaces.

We are based in the beautiful Gedye Hall in Portslade, We also have the Hillman Room for our babies where they are nurtured and made to feel secure. Our setting is spacious and light and our staff truly believe little things matter. We have a lovely forest school garden where we plan to grow our own fruit and veg. We prepare healthy home cooked meals daily. We also visit Vale Park and other local

This week at My First Word we have been getting our fingers ready for writing…practising our fine motor skills we have been making lots of mud and sand pies, playdoh and mixing paint to make different colours.

We’ve had a lovely week at MFW, following on from our exploration of the book ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ the children loved the sensory experience of melted chocolate in a tuff tray and making bear shaped pizza.

We’ve had a lovely week at MFW, our book of the week has been Stick man, the children have explored the book through lots of different media.

We have had a lots of fun this week exploring dinosaurs with our book of the week ‘Dinosaur Roar.’ we have played with dinos in the gloop and made our own sticking of dinosaurs with tissue paper. We have also been out lots this week, to the park and a special trip to Hove library, we’re we all loved looking at the books and toys. The bus journey was great, seeing all the different things as we went along.
