Free IELTS Tip — How to Use AI Better for Writing Practice
A lot of IELTS candidates practise writing with ChatGPT or other AI tools.
But there is a common problem:
Students use very simple prompts, so the AI gives simple answers that don’t really help them improve.
The solution is to use clear learning prompts.
Here is an example you can try today for IELTS Writing Task 1.
Try This AI Prompt
Copy this prompt and paste it into ChatGPT.
You are an IELTS examiner helping an A2–B1 English learner preparing for IELTS Writing.
Use clear language, short explanations, and simple examples.
Create a simple population chart for three cities between 2000 and 2020.
Ask me to write five comparative sentences about the data.
Wait for my answers before giving corrections.
Why This Prompt Works
This prompt makes the AI:
• create real IELTS-style data
• ask you to write your own sentences
• wait before giving corrections
• give useful feedback
This is much better than just asking:
"Give me an IELTS Task 1 answer."
You learn much more when you write first and get corrections after.
Try the prompt and write two comparative sentences here in the comments.
Example start:
The population of City A was higher than…
I’ll give feedback if people want 👍
