Body image and mindset coach
Helping womxn & girls who wish to feel better about themselves

06/05/2026

Went to do a careers talk at my son’s school today, describing my journey from working in prisons to supporting social entrepreneurs. Made me reminisce about some of the amazing work I’ve done through the years.
The teacher asked me what the highlight was. It’s hard to pick on, but retreats has to be up there. They were special times, bringing groups of women together for paddleboarding, life coaching, wild swimming in the beautiful reservoir, and deep discussion and reflection. Magical.

Last night I met someone who said “I know you, I follow you on instagram” which never happens. It reminded me of what I used to post here and that I haven’t done so for a while. I’ve wound down my coaching and body image work for the time being, but I often think of it, and the women and girls I’ve supported. And I hope that by talking to people about body image and accepting yourself just as you are, makes a little bit of positive difference to them, albeit in a smaller scale than when this was my full time role.

As well as all the life changes I’ve had this year, I’ve had two surgeries. But I still try to be explicitly grateful for my body every day - and continue to focus on the things it does for me and the things it enables me to do (rather than on the bits that have gone a bit wrong).

Diet culture is still all around us and seems to be going backwards right now. But having your eyes and ears open to that and choosing to think differently is still possible and vitally important. The biggest thing that clients used to tell me was that I’d “taken the blinkers off” for them, I’d helped them “unplug from the matrix of diet culture”, I’d helped them see they didn’t have to follow the narrative of “being slim is the only way to be beautiful and healthy”.

I haven’t looked after my body as much as I could have lately. But instead of beating myself up for that, or punishing myself with food (or lack of), spin classes and harsh words, I have rediscovered yoga and found an empowering weights-based exercise class and am really looking forward to gradually getting back to it as soon as I am able. To build this body back up and get it stronger as I approach my half centuries next year!!

Legally divorced as of yesterday, I’m quietly letting go of what no longer serves me, and celebrating new beginnings. Bring it on! 💃🏼💪🏼🥂

How awesome to meet one half of this evening, after a very long day in London. Gave me a little boost for my long drive home!
I’ll take you up on that cuppa next time Ian!

Still swimming. It’s still cold. Couldn’t do without it.

My brilliant weekend included lots of cold water swimming, bumping into people who said things like “I nearly said I don’t want my photo taken in my swimsuit but then I remember what you taught me and I said, yes, why not” and reminding me of work with mothers and daughters that I have put on hold for now. And today at work i interviewed someone starting out in the body kindness space. It reminded me of all the people I worked with and the journey I have been on. Being reminded of the difference to have made can really spark something. And reminded me of the importance of actively living my body.
So thank you body for getting me across the freezing pool, into the baltic reservoir, and letting me recover quickly when I felt properly cold and a bit wobbly, and for everything you do for me day and night to keep me alive, functioning and loving life, even through the toughest of years. 🩵

A lovely little bit of blue mind this afternoon with Catherine of in memory of
Being in the sea, I always come out feeling better, and knowing in my bones it’s all going to be ok. Wallace just Nichols helped us understand why and how the water is so magical, and dr Catherine Kelly furthered that understanding. I’m proud to call her a friend and swim buddy.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to write this post and then stopped over the last few months. Hence the silence. So if you’ve missed the stuff I share, I sincerely apologise.

Life threw me a few curve balls last year (as it did to many of us I think) and I had to make the tough decision to scale my coaching work right back and take on a “real” job.

Thankfully, after being offered two jobs on the same day, I eventually made the right decision and am loving what I’m doing (supporting social entrepreneurs set up or grow their businesses).

But it does mean that seascape blue is somewhat paused, although I am taking on a couple of 1-2-1 clients and hoping to run a couple of events, but right now, the focus is on my new role and giving my family what they need.

I am still fighting the fight for body image, planning to complete my book at some point and raising my eyebrows and hitting the “report” button on any “new year new you” ads that come my way.

I still plan to share stuff about how important conversation around body image is, and sharing my cold water swimming joys.

And please DM me if you are interested in my events or any one off workshops or coaching. I’m still hugely passionate about my mission to help women and girls feel happy, healthy, confident and safe in their bodies.

See you in the sea 🩵🌊 x

Someone ( ) asked people to share their best body image tip, and this is a fave with my clients.

Like any of these ways to improve our body image, it’s not easy, it’s takes practice and it is soooo worth it!

“Zoom out! Whether it’s when you look at photos of yourself or look in the mirror - stop zooming in to the specific areas you don’t like - which people probably don’t even notice anyway. zoom out and look at the bigger picture. Are you wearing something bright and colourful? Something sexy and glam? Where are you in the photo - what moment does it capture? What memory were you making? This is much more likely to bring you joy than zooming in to your tummy/ thighs/ chin - whatever. Life is too short for zooming in.” X
