My forthcoming workshop 'Making choices-to move more easily and feel more comfortable' is now in person rather than online. It is an opportunity to explore how embodied awareness and our ability to notice how were are doing things enables us to make more comfortable choices in movement and life. This 3 hour workshop (10.30-13.30) is long enough to delve into a deeper experience than a regular weekly class but also not too demanding on your attention and time.

Venue: Unit 4, Brighton

It will be an interesting weekend and I look forward to meeting some curious people

You reverse out of a parking space without that familiar twinge in your lower back.

You sleep on your side again, something you haven’t been able to do since 2018.

You carry groceries without worrying about which bag needs to go on which shoulder.

You realise you haven’t thought about your hip in three weeks.

You paint for hours without your hand cramping.

You play on the floor with your grandson because getting up isn’t a problem.

👆This is what learning through awareness looks like.

Not dramatic, but undeniable.

That’s why we do Feldenkrais :)

Our next Introductory Weekend is approaching!

7th-8th March | 10am-5pm each day.
£150 | Limited Spaces.
At in Brighton.

Come and experience the method for yourself.

DM or email [email protected] to join us.

I will be teaching the second Advanced Training ‘Using props in Functional Integration’ here in Brighton next Spring on the weekend of 14, 15 March 2026.
We will again explore how using props in FI can add an element of curiosity, safety and novelty to a lesson and can create a stimulating learning environment both for the practitioner and the client.

I am looking forward to teaching an Advanced Training for Feldenkrais practitioners for the London Feldenkrais Collective 'Moving pieces' in London Bridge on Saturday 25 October (10.30-16.30).
We will explore how we can create meaningful and effective Functional Integration lessons and will consider how we relate what we are doing with our hands to the enquiry our clients have at the beginning of a lesson. Are there ways we can think about our work that potentiates our students somatic learning and helps them to make more sense of a lesson?
The day will a mixture of theory and practice.
Please visit https://londonfeldenkraiscollective.as.me for further details or to book.

“Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their children than the unlived life of the parent.”- Carl Jung

Maybe this is in part why I became a Feldenkrais practitioner as the Method considers how we and our students can grow into our ‘potent self’ (The Potent Self - Moshe Feldenkrais)

The topic of my Advanced Training over the weekend was ‘Working with children’. We were exploring and learning how to approach working with children of all ages and abilities using the principles of the Feldenkrais and Child’Space Method. I loved the groups curiosity and engagement. We were considering questions like: Shall we work on the floor or table? How do we use touch and movement? Is it helpful to use toys and movement props? What can we do when a child does not want to stay still or cooperate or is overly compliant? How much should we involve the parents? All in all a fruitful experience.

International Feldenkrais Week: Day 8

Theme: B a l a n c e

‘Rolling: The Foundation of Balance’ with Sabine Blackaby

Positions: on side and on back
Duration: 15:59

In this lesson, you’ll discover how shifting weight and rolling form the basis of balanced movement.

You’ll practice rolling smoothly from your side onto your back—and, over time, from one side to the other.

Notice how each roll reorganizes your body’s support, making it easier to sense and adjust your center of gravity. These foundational movements unlock greater ease and stability in all your activities.

Practitioner Bio:

Sabine is based in Brighton

“I have been a Feldenkrais practitioner for 28 years, teaching regular classes and workshops and advanced trainings since becoming a Feldenkrais Assistant Trainer in 2020. I work individually in Functional Integration and Child’Space lessons with all ages from babies, children to the elderly. I have a special interest in relating the somatic side of the Feldenkrais Method to our emotional well-being.

The way we relate to ourself in movement often reflects how we relate to ourself in life generally.
Are we taking our time to do something or are we rushing?
Do we breath as we move or compromise our breath?
Are we looking for easy, comfortable ways to move or are we pushing and straining?
Are we exploring, experimenting or are we striving and wanting to achieve?

Messages we received from our environment when we were young often influence how we later relate to ourself and what we ask of ourself. How many of us have been told to work hard, try our best and do well?

Observing these internalized attitudes during movement and finding ways to adjust them can filter into the rest of our life and encourages a more open, friendly and accepting approach towards ourself and our daily activities and challenges.

When the quality of our movements improves the quality of our life does too.

During this workshop we will use Feldenkrais lessons to help us observe how we move and connect to ourself and how we can alter and modify our motions learning to listen less to unhelpful expectations and drives and more to what feels right and good to us.
