This week, our Year 5 children visited Burton Agnes Hall. During the visit, they explored the house and took part in activities that introduced them to its history. They also spent time in the gardens, where they were able to look around and enjoy the outdoor space.
The pupils listened well, asked sensible questions, and behaved responsibly throughout the day. It was a valuable experience that supported their learning beyond the classroom.

The Year 4 Anglo-Saxon workshop provided pupils with an engaging introduction to who the Anglo-Saxons were, where they came from and why they settled in Britain. Through discussion of archaeological evidence, including Sutton Hoo, pupils explored how we know about Anglo-Saxon appearance, clothing and daily life. Hands-on artefact investigations encouraged pupils to think like archaeologists, examining and drawing objects to identify their purpose. The day concluded with an interactive session on Anglo-Saxon warfare, where pupils learnt about weapons, armour, battlefield tactics and the shield wall, with opportunities to handle replica equipment in a safe and supervised environment.

Year 6 visited Eden Camp and spent the day exploring the different huts and exhibitions across the site. They moved around the camp in small groups, viewing a range of displays including recreated rooms, uniforms, vehicles, and everyday artefacts.
They experienced sound effects, films, and detailed scenes that helped show different aspects of life at the time.

With the recent increase in temperature, we kindly ask for your support in helping us keep all children safe and comfortable during the school day.
Please ensure that your child:
Wears a suitable sun hat to school
Brings plenty to drink, in a refillable water bottle
Has sun-cream applied before arriving at school
If your child needs to reapply sun-cream during school hours, please complete the necessary paperwork at the school office to give permission.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep the children protected in the warmer weather.
