It was wonderful meeting so many new families at our New to Reception Evening tonight! We know starting school is a massive milestone, and we are so excited to welcome you all into our school family this September.
To give you a little taste of what’s to come, some of our current Reception children wanted to send a special message to their new school friends. 🎥👇
Turn the sound on to hear their top tips and warmest welcomes!

Over the next few weeks, staff from Sandal are going to be raising funds for various charities. Mrs Bradley is running 50km during May to raise funds for SANDS, who support anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby. (https://fundraising.sands.org.uk/fundraisers/AbiBradley). Miss Holdsworth is running the Leeds half-marathon on May 10th for Sue Ryder (https://www.justgiving.com/page/jess-holdsworth-1) , and Mr Thompson is abseiling down Anfield Stadium in July to raise funds for Candlelighters (https://candlelighters.enthuse.com/pf/adrian-thompson-22e2a). Don't feel you have to, but any donations would be gratefully received by all three charities.

Nursery had a brilliant day in the sun at Hesketh Farm Park on Wednesday. They fed goats, calves and lambs, saw a newly born calf, cuddled guinea pigs, collected eggs, played with tiny chicks, and went on a very bumpy tractor ride!

This week, some of our outdoor groups took part in the Great British Spring Clean.
We spent time caring for our local environment by tidying up our outdoor areas, including the public fields we use and share. The children showed such pride working together to make a real difference to the spaces around them.
As we head towards the holidays, we’d love to encourage anyone with a bit of free time to get involved in litter picking our public spaces. Our community areas mean so much to us, especially as we use them even more during the summer term. A huge well done to everyone involved.

Year 1 had an amazing session outside learning about senses. They laid still in the grass, using their sense of hearing to identify and appreciate the sounds in the environment. Then they worked in pairs to use their sense of touch and identify mystery objects. Finally, they worked together to make pancakes on the campfire, using their sense of taste to gobble them up! What a wonderful time they had!
