It was the second summer crafting session last week and the kids made festival flags, mini Casper the chameleon, mini mushroom houses, beaded snails, pipe cleaner people and lots more!

There was also a large cardboard sculpture for decorating which deserves its own post!

A lovely way to end the summer holidays.

As well as crafting and painting at tables we collectively turned a plain cardboard sculpture into a colourful creation🎨✨

We don’t often paint vertically or on multiple different textures so it was great to see the children get stuck in. There were plain sides, bumpy textures, tubes, egg boxes, bubble wrap and more. Some children enjoyed calmly painting on their own while others created together pretending the sculpture was a train or a tank.

Some parents joined in the decorating, others relaxed and enjoyed watching their children get creative. The sound of the paintbrushes on some of the textures was very calming and relaxing!

Some creations from the July summer crafting session! Bugs, wands, wiggly worms, joyful pictures and colourful rainbows. Everyone (adults and children) spent a very happy hour calmly crafting and creating. Some suggested crafts but no rules and all ideas welcome 💜💚🌈

I’ll do a separate post with our fantastic collaborative painted cardboard sculpture 🎨🖌️

Birthday craft party - a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a Rainbows and Unicorn party with a lovely chatty group of friends. We made unicorn decorations with crystals to cast rainbows and glow in the dark key-rings 🌈🦄

Final week of term and it was make what you like week! I took in a variety of resources and the kids got stuck in. Cardboard tubes and thick cardboard is always a hit and we had faces, pick up trucks, land rovers, games, swing balls plus pipe cleaner bracelets.

It’s been a fantastic term and year with so many children growing confidence and skills while having fun.

Our craft for last week at after school clubs was making dragon eggs using air dry clay, sparkly beads and sequins.

It was a great craft for strengthening our hand muscles, smoothing the clay onto the eggs and then our fine motor skills were put to the test poking tiny beads and sparkly sequins into the clay so they stuck!

The feeling of wet clay was strange for some at first but the more they squeezed and rolled, the more they loved it!

The kids loved it though - paint sticks then PVA glue to attach pom-poms, buttons, sequins, feathers, curling ribbon……they looked fab!

Last week at after school craft clubs we made stickers. And who doesn’t love stickers!!

We used a few different methods; cutting pictures out and using those, drawing our own on paper and cutting them out, drawing directly onto the sellotape with permanent pens as well as using acrylic pens which gave vibrant colours and meant we could layer colours. All different effects but all looked fab ✨
