Nico Brooks Primary Tutoring

This week my 2 year old casually counted to 10 whilst we were getting him off to sleep. Today he sorted all the coloured balls by himself.

He currently goes to Nursery 3 days a week and ever since he started, his learning and speech has come on in leaps and bounds.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore my days off with him and we do lots of informal learning, but seeing the progress he’s making from his setting has really made me smile this week.

*ONE* One whole year of Nico Brooks Primary Tutoring! When I decided to start this journey a year ago, I never imagined it would be as successful as it has been. In that year I’ve worked with children of all year groups, all working towards different goals. Whether it’s been maths, reading, writing, phonics, topic, homework, or even just social skills, every child has brought something unique and I can’t thank them enough for making my business a success! Here’s to the next year! 🎉🎉

(A bit late I know)

I have been rather quiet on here recently, so I thought I would pop on to give an update on me!

In October I took the decision to walk away from the school I knew and loved for 16 years. This was a really hard decision for me but the right one for my well being and my family!

Since then I have been continuing my tutoring whilst figuring out where I wanted to go next.

I am pleased to say that I am now working at a new school in Year 2, and although I’ve only been there for 3 weeks, I am already feeling much happier!

With that being said, I am looking into adding some more private tutoring sessions.

Today I had the absolute honour of meeting the national treasure that is Michael Rosen. A children’s author and poet.
For 16 years I have read his books and watched his hilarious videos with my classes, and to watch him perform some of my personal favourites live today was simply amazing and overwhelming.

He was such a gentle and kind man, even taking time out to chat to my son (who had no idea who he was) but one day he will and I can show him these photos, along with his signed book!

As a teacher, this was definitely a highlight of my career!

Welcome to a new school year!

I hope everyone has settled back into school routines and excited for the year ahead. I am back tutoring and looking forward to taking my current students further with their learning and progress.

Today I had a delivery of some activities I ordered to help aid fine motor development. I’m lucky to have a mini tester, and he gives it all the thumbs up! 👍🏼

Finger gym.

Sounds strange right?
In fact, Finger gym activities directly target the small muscles in the hands and fingers, which are vital for tasks like writing, using scissors, buttoning clothes, and eating with utensils.

So if you have a child that struggles to sustain writing for more than a few minutes, it may be due to a weakness in the finger muscles, in which case, Finger gym is a good way to start a writing lesson.

Just a quick thank you to everyone who has supported my business this last academic year- it’s been amazing!

I’m now having a well earned rest with my beautiful children and will be back in business in September.

At present I am fully booked for private 1:1 sessions for the next academic year, but please look out for group sessions coming up!
