A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Morning today.

It was wonderful to welcome so many children and families into St George’s Shining Stars, despite the rain. We hope you enjoyed exploring our setting, meeting the team and joining in with all the activities. The children certainly filled the preschool with lots of smiles, laughter and busy play.

Thank you for making the morning so special. We look forward to welcoming you again soon and watching your little stars shine! 🌟

One last post from Jo and I!!

We just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has wished us well over the last few weeks as we embark on new journeys! Your generous gifts have been very much appreciated but what has struck us the most have been the incredibly thoughtful words that you have taken the time to write in your cards, reading through them all has been very emotional for us both.

It’s has been an absolute honour and privilege to welcome so many families to the preschool over the last 7 and 5 years and we are really going to miss the preschool community that we’ve been a part of creating. Watching each child grow in confidence, curiosity, kindness, and independence has been a privilege. From first friendships and creative discoveries to laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories, every child has left a special mark on us!

Thank you for trusting us to be part of these precious early years. Your support and partnership has meant so much, and we’re truly grateful to have shared this journey with you.

We hope you all have the most wonderful summer holidays! Lots of Love, Joellen and Jo ♥️♥️

Last week ended with our wonderful sports afternoon. Despite the hot weather the children were fantastic. During each race all the children were incredibly brave to run in front of a big supportive crowd of parents, grandparents and other family members. They sat fantastically in the shaded area to cheer on their friends and were very excited at the end to receive their medals! Well done everyone! This week the children have explored lots of water play again in the garden. There has been a car wash and baby bathing station. The children embraced the bubbles and had lots of fun washing the cars and babies. In the water kitchen the children had different coloured water to explore and make potions with. In the sand inside the children have enjoyed exploring the sand moulds, filling them up and making different shaped sand castles. We are looking forward to the last full week with you all next week!!

Despite the hot weather, we have been extremely lucky to have air con to keep us cool at preschool. We have managed to spend some short periods of time out in the garden, keeping cool with lots of water play. A few of the children instigated a water fight, this started off with them using pipettes to sq**rt each other before it rapidly changed to them throwing cups of water at each other. There was a lot of laughter, especially when the children managed to get the teachers wet too!! The children have also enjoyed cooling off with an ice lolly or two. We enjoyed a morning Moo music session this week with Jenna, joining in with some of our favourite songs. The children did some fantastic singing and dancing with a few drinks breaks in between. The children have also been exploring the jungle animals this week. They’ve set up some wonderful zoo spaces for their animals, using the wooden sticks and bricks to create different shaped animal pens. We finished the week off with a wonderful swimming lesson this morning. We are super proud of all our Friday children; it was amazing to see how much their confidence has grown over the last four weeks. There was some super swimming happening today!

This week at preschool the children have been busy junk modelling with various items that we have had donated to us. The children had some fantastic ideas of what to create, finding the relevant resources they required and then using glue and masking tape to create their masterpieces. We have seen cat soft plays, rocket cars and musical instruments created to name a few. The children have also had a great time exploring ice in the light box this week. The children used some wonderful language to describe how the ice felt, “cold” “slippery” and “melty.” The children used paintbrushes and coloured water to melt the ice to free the herbs. Miss Ness donated us some diggers and vehicles this week which the children have enjoyed using in the tuff tray of crushed wheetabix. The children have worked individually and in small groups to transport the wheetabix around the tray. Yesterday afternoon, the children had a fun time running around on the track, running up and down the grassy hill next to the steps and rolling down the hill very fast. As it was a hot afternoon we decided to sit in the shade and cool down with a drink and an ice lolly!!

"That was awesome!!" 🌟

My favourite comment of the morning came from a little boy at St George’s Shining Stars Preschool during our Fun Fair themed Mini Athletics class. He'd had a fantastic time spinning around on his bottom, pretending to be a merry-go-round! 🎠

It's always an absolute pleasure visiting this wonderful pre-school, where every member of staff genuinely cares about each and every child. The team are amazing and always join in our games with so much enthusiasm. When children see their role models having fun and being active, it inspires them to do the same!

We packed plenty of fun into today's session. We built a rollercoaster before racing along it at top speed with huge smiles and our hands in the air 🎢, knocked down coconuts at the coconut shy 🥥, and enjoyed lots of races that got us moving our bodies in all sorts of different ways.

One little girl's delighted cry of "Again!" after a race said it all! 💛

These wonderful children have come on so much since I started weekly classes with them last term. During our warm-up, they were confidently waving at Gogo with both their hands and feet at the same time, and one teacher commented that not all of them could do that when we first started. It's so rewarding to see their coordination, confidence and physical skills developing week by week.

We always have so much fun together, and mornings like this remind me why I love what I do.

Mini Athletics is a fantastic enrichment activity for pre-schools, and we're now taking bookings for September. If you're a nursery or pre-school manager and would like to find out more, we'd love to hear from you! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️✨
