All ready for the 11 plus Mock test this morning!

I offer 2 full mock tests over the course of the academic year. This enables us to track progress and identify areas to focus on over the summer holidays.

I'm really proud of my tutees- they have definitely shown resilience and commitment to their 11 plus journey. 📚

Did you know, I also teach Functional Skills for English and Maths?
Level 2 is the equivalent to a grade 4 at GCSE level.

I have just finished teaching Functional Skills (English and Maths) to this lovely student. Student X came to me low in confidence, but over the past year I have watched her become a very competent learner. She has shown great resilience, even when things got tricky and I am pleased to say that she has passed her English with flying colours! I'm so proud of her and how far she has come! We get the maths results next week🤞🏼

Our last activity together was to make a dream catcher which involved reading and following instructions. She then wrote her own instructions using appropriate conjunctions, clauses and imperative verbs.

I received a lovely email of thanks from her mum. 🥰

As a tutor, this time of year is always a bit sad for me! While many of my KS2 students stay with me (which I'm very grateful for), I lose my year 6 students as they will start their new chapter at Secondary School.

After 2 years of teaching the wonderful Eve, we have now had our last lesson 😥

Eve has truly been a delight to teach and I have watched her grow in confidence over the last 2 years. She is completely ready for secondary and I know she will continue to flourish!

So good luck Eve and good luck to all the year 6s as they start their new chapters!

Thank you to all my students for their lovely messages, cards and gifts. Fortunately, I will see many of them in September!

As a side note- if any children entering year 7 would like to have a bit of extra support to help with the transition, Luke Devaraj offers KS3 tuition. He is a former grammar school student and has just finished his A levels. Luke has been tutoring for 2 years and particularly enjoys teaching maths!

We had a visit from Little Dragon in our tutoring session! He provided lots of inspiration for our tutees and some amazing similes were produced. 🐉

We've had a fantastic week writing character descriptions of a King!

After drawing a life size model on paper, the children annotated their King with detailed descriptions of both his appearance and personality.

The younger children focused on using their senses to create some really good expanded noun phrases, while the older children also included fronted adverbials and similes.

Well done tutees! 👏
