Hormones play a huge role during pregnancy and labour not just for mums but also for the fathers too. Did you know that a father’s level of prolactin ‘the hormone of paternity’ rises just before birth? Prolactin makes fathers more responsive to the cries of a newborn.
Research shows that a shift in testosterone during late pregnancy heightens the fathers natural instinct to ‘protect’ which supports the mothers natural instinct to ‘nurture’
A knowledgable birth partner really is an asset during pregnancy and labour

A woman giving birth is at her most alert because she is simultaneously at her most vulnerable- the tiniest little thing can cause stress or worry.
If you put yourself into an extra state of alertness and ask yourself ‘am I in pain’? Did you do a quick check to see if there was any pain in your body? In the same state of alertness, ask yourself ‘am I comfortable?’ Did you notice if the experience was different this time?
Notice the power of language and make sure there is plenty of positive input.

The birth of your new arrival is the most important day in your baby’s life and one of the most important in yours.
The process of preparation is logical and well researched. The preparation time is the time to use the rational brain and then having set everything up for the best possible outcome you can rely on instinct to respond to the situation.
We need both parts of the mind; use the faithful servant to prepare for birth and trust the scared gift for the birth itself.

Labour is involuntary, just like our breathing and our heart beat however, you can absolutely have an influence over your pregnancy and birth experience.

The 7 C’s of Born in Bloom are values that underpin the course and all of them put together can make a very big difference.

Your hypnobirthing journey will take you to a place of calmness and confidence where you can learn to let go of the negative narrative of childbirth and see how awesome you really are!

The positive feedback loop of labour!

Understanding what happens in your body during labour can be a real game changer!

I personally found that having this knowledge helped me to feel so much more prepared and calm.

Under normal circumstances, the positive feedback loop will continue until the cervix is dilated and your baby is ready to join us in the world 👩🏽‍🍼😃

Aren’t pregnant bodies amazing?!
