My name is Steve Gowlett and I am an English born, raised and schooled in the south of England who has been living in Spain for over 30 years. I have a deep understanding of the differences between English and Spanish and this gives me a huge advantage when helping students learn both English and Spanish.

Hi everyone. Today I am extremely pleased to make a little announcement.....
A few weeks ago, my student and Patreon supporter, Juan introduced me to suno.com, which some of you may know already.

Suno is a platform that allows us to create the kind of music we love using AI
to produce clear voices and excellent music quality. And wow!! What a few weeks of experience and experimenting I have had :)

I have been looking for a new hobby for some time and I think I have found it!

For the last few weeks, I have been writing songs and getting creative and more and more inspired by how each one comes out on suno.com.

I decided to write my own songs and upload the lyrics to Suno, and then select the music style(s), voice style, etc... and tested how the same songs can sound so different depending on the
musical styles chosen. I have experimented with rock, blues, hip hop, electro
swing, funk and techno.

After dropping a few samples to friends and family, I was encouraged to put together an album and try to get it out
there on Spotify.

Soo....I thought...What the hell? Why not give it a go? :)

I decided to go with a blues / rock style sound for the album to give it a homogenised sound and decided on some themes.

The lyrics explore a range of topics from observations, feelings, interactions, attractions and seductions in the times we live in these days and also on a personal note, how age is creeping up :)

I have put together 16 tracks for the album and have called it "These are our times - and other stories" 🎵

It's been a lot of fun putting it together and a learning curve which I am just starting to ride. A lot of late nights too :)

It is currently being uploaded to several online sites and is already on Amazon Music, Spotify and YouTube .... at least for now :)

Spanish speakers will get this. The confusion between the verb "mount" in English and the Spanish "montar" 😀
Be careful of direct translations! They don't always work.

Hi there,
Today we take a look at the word "keen"

Did you know that "keen" means to be enthusiastic about something or someone?

You can be "keen on" something or someone or "keen to" do something.

In the picture notice how I use "climbing" after "on". This is because when you use a preposition followed by a verb, you need to add the -ing to the verb to create the gerund :)

If you are "keen on someone", it means you have a romantic interest in that person.
Keen is a great word to add to your vocabulary. You can also use it like this:

I am not keen on tea. I prefer coffee.
I am not so keen on that type of music.
I don't think she is very keen to visit the dentist next week.
He is a keen learner.
She is a keen climber.

You can find an extended version of this lesson with alternative expressions on my Patreon Page.
